I don't get the whole bullshit scare of playing God to begin with. Humanity alters nature to serve humanity. Nature alters nature to serve itself, often times in spite of humanity. That being said, giving humans a chance behind the wheel of genetics and whatnot seems like the better option.
unlike with nature there's controlled experiments, corrections, regulations, and most importantly of all, actual intelligence behind what's being done.
When scientists get all pissy that their cell culture isn't blindly worshipping them and decide to drown everything, then I'll say they're playing God.
