What are your thoughts on church burning, /atheists/? I think they're pretty win.

>nice spectacle

>clears land for something useful to be built

>triggered christcucks

ead914 No.8886

That's wasteful. I prefer to see cathedrals turned into nice condos.

Hi statuefag, still false flagging huh?

6f674a No.8891

I kind of like the architecture though. It could just as easily be converted into something useful.

What has atheism touched that it doesn't spoil?

Just turn obsolete churches into book shops or libraries instead like they are doing i the Netherlands right now.

No good idea. They just build new ones but people who usually don't care about church empathize with them.

I'll be one of the many who will tell OP to get fucked, destroying someone else's property isn't cool.

>burning buildings because you don't agree with what it represents

Jesus fucking Christ you faggots are easy to trigger.

Buildings are demolished all the time so that something with a better design can be built over it. And churches aren't particularity good designs for what could be built over them. Re-purposing can also be more costly than building from the ground up because the infrastructure isn't meant to be a condo with running water, good lighting, etc wasting more resources than just building a condo. Get over it.

that's very regrettable. It is true that churches are also symbols for religions, that's why Christian conquerors were so eager and smart to build their churches were the indigenous American ones used to be or even to blend some elements of the native's religion with christianity to ease adoption. But of course lots of cultural patrimony was destroyed this way. destroying churches doesn't even help making religion go away, and it is an artistic loss.

Whenever I see this kind of destructive, supremacist view that atheists and irreligious imitate from the most lunatic theist and religious fags I want to state it very clearly that whatever progress is to be made needs to occur at the intellectual level. I would like more people to abandon ideas for which there is no evidence such as the different religions, but only voluntarily. An imposition doesn't take us any further. State atheism is almost as bad as a confessional State or theocracy. Arguably the freest countries like Britain, France*, Germany, the Netherlands and the Nordic ones are much more secular and nontheistic than something like Russia which was quite harsh with religion during the Stalinist decades.

*France actually had some kind of State atheism and then an official deistic religion for some months after the French Revolution, but religious freedom has been the norm for almost 250 years and of course religious levels are quite low and still decreasing there.

The high ceilings make for magnificant rooms. The only problem is the cost of heating. Remember that many churches already have bathrooms and kitchens, you just need to add more if you're going to partition it up into more units. There was a hundred + year old church and bell tower in the UK that was turned into skinny apartments with high ceilings on each floor. You can also just sell the church as a luxury house. They would also make for nice libraries.

They've also converted missile silos into condos too:

Maybe if you weren't so complacently smug you would realize people like you are the ones who needs to progress on that intellectual level. This lunatic pacifist ideology has cucked you from taking control and making society according to how you'd like it. So you sitting there idly by while all manner of nonsense festers around you. Weak and pathetic. Besides what you're peddling is a core tenant of Christianity, pics related. It's sad to see atheists infected with this nonsense but unsurprising as so many atheist were brainwashed by Christian ideals when they were young and still can't overcome their conditioning, hence humanism. Humanism is a Trojan horse that crept its way into atheism, coercing you to tolerate religion insofar as to allow it to persist or even be embraced. Fortunately some of us have risen above this nonsense unfortunately not enough people who responded to this thread.

As for Britain, France, etc those countries are becoming more and more Muslim each day because of their inaction. Not to mention their beliefs are treated with equal respect as scientific evidence.

And in Russia it was Putin's theocracy that empowered the church. During the USSR, as far as religion was concerned, things were going favorably. Had the USSR defeated the West we probably wouldn't see religion.

>And in Russia it was Putin's theocracy that empowered the church. During the USSR, as far as religion was concerned, things were going favorably. Had the USSR defeated the West we probably wouldn't see religion.

Your idea on fighting religion is to be exactly like religion. Slaughtering anyone who doesn't agree with you. Atheists aren't the "love your enemy" types. They tend to mercilessly shit on religion and then make fun of atheists who are too weak too. What modern atheists don't tend to do however is put people to death because they have one.

320063 No.8923

>Your idea on fighting religion is to be exactly like religion.

You're the one espousing the love thy neighbor crap. Look yourself in the mirror and kindly fuck off.

320063 No.8924

>>8921

>Your idea on fighting religion is to be exactly like religion.

Religion isn't inherently violent either. Look at Jainism. I can just as easily call you a Jain so this point is moot. Nor is religion the source of violence. The credit for the breakthrough of killing to put a stop to things is deserving of an organism before humans even evolved.

So no this isn't like religion, it's to put an end to religion.

>Atheists aren't the "love your enemy" types.

Atheist like me aren't the love thy neighbor types, not pussified faggots like you. Atheists like you are more concerned with tolerance than truth and are thus useless.

>Buildings are demolished all the time so that something with a better design can be built over it.

i doubt that's the reason that most buildings are demolished. Regardless; Op was talking about church-burning, not church demolishing, you idiot. Learn to read.

320063 No.8932

>>8930

Learn to check IDs. And that is the logical reason for demolition. Remember demolition is an investment so it only makes sense to do if you're going to improve the land. And it's easy to improve on Church architecture after it's leveled. Also church-burning is a demolition process, you idiot. Learn vocabulary.

320063 No.8934

>>8932

It's even an improvement when it's leveled. We can use more parks.

Indeed. You can't trust government or large businesses to protect beautiful things. Read about Penn station in New York. A hundred years ago it used to look like this! It had grand neo-classical collumns of marble, stone statues, ceilings as tall as a cathedral, and a giant clock.

Then 50 years ago the rail company decided they could demolish this architectural wonder to save money on heating costs and put a tiny shopping complex on top. They turned one of the most beautiful parts of the city into a generic piece of shit.

"One entered the city like a god; one scuttles in now like a rat."

Now you feel like you're gonna bump your head against the ceiling. They're even talking about paying millions to put a bigger station there again, because the new one is too small for one of the main transfer stations. They were so short-sighted.

571401 No.8941

I seriously doubt that church-burning is government-aprroved.

08171d No.8943

>>8896

This. Put them to good use, be it shelters for the homeless, libraries, etc.

That said, the only churches that look halfway decent are in Europe - American churches look generic and plain and probably won't need much work to be turned into a soup kitchen.

Meanwhile in reality.

http://www.lifelineexpedition.co.uk/mota/index.htm

>The Lifeline Expedition is a reconciliation initiative which is a Christian response to the legacy of the Atlantic Slave Trade. It brings together teams of Africans, descendants of enslaved Africans and white people from the three former corners of the slave triangle and over a period of seven years has visited many significant slavery sites around the Atlantic world. Controversy has emerged over the fact that white people on the teams wore replica yokes and chains to express apology for the role of their ancestors in the slave trade.

> You're creating a strawman of people's positions

I heard you.

>hurr I'll give irrational morons say in my society with citizenship which allows them to vote thus giving them some control over my life and all i'll do is bark at them on the debate floor durr

I'm just pointing out how ineffectual you faggots are.

>ecause you're too upset over the fact that people aren't willing to murder others because over disagreement

Nah, I'm just laughing at you idiots for believing in "violence = 'bad'". And none of you can prove it but that's the basis of your faith-based argument. In fact your belief goes contrary to the evidence, violence has demonstrated not only in our species but in so many to be effective in many cases more so than cooperation. Especially given limited resources, I'd rather just seize all the church's money and put it into research where it belongs.

Also I'm not calling for murder, stop with the projection and quit strawmaning me. Merely expulsion. I don't like killing. I'm not the stereotypical edgelord caricature you have drawn in your head.

As for the strawman you mentioned, since you're going to project like that. It isn't just a disagreement. Political positions have real world consequences. And having a festering swarm of morons in what could be as humanly rational as possible countries isn't a good thing by any stretch of the imagination.

>Did I see you defending religion there, boy?

You're the one crediting religion with knowing how to use violence. I'm merely giving the credit where it's due, evolution. I'm sorry but violence isn't evil despite your beliefs. It should be the last measure because of how permanent the results are, but shouldn't be dismissed like that.
