New to this board and want to know the rules? Have a question for atheists? Then you should probably read the FAQ (Updated: 3/19/15). It's not necessary, but don't be surprised if people ignore you if you don't elaborate further on a question already answered here, or the moderator does something you didn't expect.

I've noticed that most pro-Christian/Muslim/etc… arguments are pretty much copypasta that has spread by word of mouth over time, essentially the original definition of a meme. Things like "well, show me the evidence" and "No! YOU prove God doesn't exist". It would actually be possible to create an educational database of these "arguments" and the best retort in a certain situation. Is there already an online repository of religious arguments like this that exists, and if not, what are your thoughts on creating one? I have the resources available ATM, with an online VPS and some moderate coding skills. I already have some experience custom building websites, but this would definately be the biggest project I've ever done. Regardless, I really want to do this. Anybody want to go for it?

Honestly, I just don't argue with religious people. Because I know what will be discussed, I am not interested in the bullshit they have to say and I think they will waste my time. So I just say "fuck you" if on the internet, or "I don't want to talk about this" if it's in real life. I got tired by all the people who think there's an ever loving daddy in the sky for them.

You could also build an app. I've been thinking it'd be funny to build a phone app that would show an automated bot can refute the common arguments Christfags throw. In other words it would counter all the common arguments and refutals for God or for evolution via branching paths.

I gave up on the idea when I decided people can pull an unrelated common counter point out of the blue which would require there be too many selectable counter-arguments for it to be useful. In the end it'd need a search function or categorization, in which case it would lose the feeling of interaction.

I think such a tool would be great as a public service kind of thing. Too many people are duped into believing apologetics websites like answers in Genesis not knowing that there are many robust objections to the points they raise.

This sounds like these little booklets missionaries get.

Responding to hivemind pre-coocked arguments with hivemind pre-coocked arguments?

Yes, exactly. Unfortunately, I forgot to consider that they rarely actually answer in any way at all. Pic so fucking related.

cprogramming doesn't even cover the basic too well, just pick a book instead.

The serious answer is that many Christian non-factual claims make no sense, and if you decode them before entering them, it's obvious where it's wrong. Besides, part of atheism is that you're supposed to see these things for yourself. It's still a good idea, for disproving historical claims and such, but how important are they really to Christians? >>7837
