Hopefully this will answer most questions people will ask when arriving here. If you have any questions I missed, or if you have suggestions for this board and how I should do my job, please post them here.

Q: Oh god, is r/atheism on 8chan now?

A: I'm going to do what I (fairly) can to make this board not like the r/atheism stereotype. I want to allow religious debate here in in a way that's as reasonable as possible (as in please don't make a blantant spam tier shitpost/copypasta). For more info, read further.

Q: How are things run around here?

A: For the most part this is a free discussion forum. We don't want this board to become a hugbox. Users here are encouraged to self moderate. Don't let anything fool you here, atheists from all creeds are allowed to post and disagree with each other here. Religious people can post too and debate with us. What we don't tolerate however, is co-opting. I caught an SJW trying to do it once, and if I catch any group trying to samefag to make it look like people agree with them I will call them on it. If you really want to understand and agree with your opinion, you need to back it up with facts and put effort into it. Game threads like dubs threads will be auto-saged after about a day or 2, if most people want a specific game thread unsaged though, I'll do it. The only thing that gets deleted here is spam/copypasta and adverts to other boards. Just use common sense, like don't post a thread with a fedorabeard image that just says "tipGG used to be a movement where the were a bunch of people with different ideals who shared some similarities. but now they all just sound like the stereotypical MRAs. Calling Brianna Wu a he because they found out she was transgender and accusing people who were against that of tone policing just made me fed up with the movement and leave.s fedora". You will only be banned for rapid spamming, doxing people, and posting illegal shit. If you have a question about moderation, ask in this thread.

Q: Why are ID's turned off on a debate board?

A: I'm one of the ones for this, but unfortunately we, the community, are almost literally split in half over having ID's. So I leave you with one compromise: If you want, just use temp names like "anon 1" or something. Other people might get mad, but I sure won't ban you for it.

Q: What is the point of coming here and discussing atheism?

A: Many things actually. Really If you listen to at least devoted religious people talking about their religion you kind of get the same impression too, such as "Why do these specific topics need to be discussed?" Some things one would naturally assume would be a good discussion such as the rise of atheism in this age, and for Christians the supposed "moral decline" of this age and how they are being attacked by political correctness. Others not so much, like arguing over denominations and whatnot if your a christian, or discussing who your favorite atheist public figure is. Basically, if you have an interest in something, there are times when small topics that would be useless to some others are interesting to talk about to you. Let's use video games as an example. Have you ever looked at a Fallout New Vegas thread and wondered why people argue so much over what ending is best and which faction is right? It's something you'd only get if you were familiar with it and had a great interest in it (which you possibly might not). Some of us also do not live in cities, and live in an area where we don't really have anyone to discuss this with.

Q: Why do you guys believe in atheism when you can't prove that there is not a god?

A: This is often a big miscommunication that stays that way because for some reason many Atheists can't get to the point when talking about it. The answer to this question is that most atheists are technically what some people call "Agnostic Atheists" (and their definition of that term, perhaps not yours). This means that while most atheists realize that there is a possibility that a god (or many) may have created the universe in some fashion, we believe that science will most likely tell us where we came from, along with many other things. We also see many contradictions and fallacies in religious writings like the bible, and we find it hard to believe that they are truth.

Q: Why do you guys mostly discuss the Abrahamic trio (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam)?

.

A: That is true to an extent. This is mostly because at the moment Christianity and Islam are very huge religions in the world right now. Keep in mind that many Atheists on this board live in the western world, where Christianity is practiced by most people. We've dealt with Christians the most, many of us were raised Christian, had parents who weren't very happy to hear about our switch to various degrees, and Christians are usually the people we encounter off the net who want to talk and debate with us about our beliefs. So they are usually on our minds when discussing atheism. As for Islam, when you look at the world, you can see all the radical Islamist out there who have done many horrible things in the name of Islam. Some of them try to masquerade as peaceful Muslims and use political correctness to cover up their crimes and/or gain influence. Some are simply misguided when using political correctness. As for Judaism, whether you believe in the many conspiracies or not, it's rather odd that so many of them are in power despite there being so few in the western world. Israel's conflict is also a very hot topic to discuss.

I hope this gets most things out of the way.
