Theories range from coming 35,000 ago in canoes to 70,000 years ago via a Papuan land bridge.
Regardless of the time frame what you have to realize is that any population that is separated whether it be man or beast (are coons even human?) will undergo speciation and experience severe genetic drift.
When you observe South American and Maori populations they weren't separated nearly as long enough from the people that they descended from compared to Australian Aboriginals.
Maori were separated from Polynesians for like 1000 years and Native Americans less than 10,000.

The cultures that have survived are just interesting to me. Aboriginal people in general had mastered the ways of adapting to their environment. The fact that their religious system is tied to their land and the idea that they are symbiotic to it and not the masters of it, they took care of the land and the land took care of them.
Specifically to the Yolgnu people, How their ritual stories have multiple layers that become more complex when knowledge is earn't through maturity and certain stages of peoples lives. We see them as puerile, but due to their secrecy we only get the literal meanings of the songs that are taught to children. A song about a cockatoo flying may also mean where people can go to find a certain food grown in a particular area on the next level while the level after that could be to do with a morality story specific to elders. The intertwined aspects of ceremonial songs (manikay I think it is called.) Can be danced, sung and drawn to the point one reference can be identified and engage the other mediums.
Warlpiri people have a sophisticated social system that is intertwined with seasons, skingroups, relationships, responsibilities.
I also a buff for indigenous art and song.
Aboriginal people have done a lot to try and adapt to European civilization yet we have not done enough to understand them. We only get to see drunks and bad news stories from these communities while being completely ignorant about their cultures, It is both parties faults, aboriginies are reluctant to share their stories and secrets and european civilization see them nothing more than coons and lump 100s of different language and tribal groups into one group and try to address their woes as though they are all the same. I am not going to avoid shitty aspects of aboriginal life and I laugh at stereotypes and jokes about aboriginies… but I will always respect them and their diverse cultures.

David Unaipon (born David Ngunaitponi) (28 September 1872 – 7 February 1967) was a well-known Indigenous Australian[2] of the Ngarrindjeri people, a preacher, inventor and writer. Unaipon's contribution to Australian society helped to break many Indigenous Australian stereotypes, and he is featured on the Australian $50 note in commemoration.

Also if he was alive today he'd be a supporter of Australia first. Shared many views with Pauline Hanson in that abbos should get treated by the gov the same as anyone else. Like shit. When missionaries came they brought axes in order to teach locals the benefit of their tools - the explosion of technological process also created violence that destroyed trade routes for some time. I do worry that we are heading down the same path with the weapons we're designing today.
That being said, they were highly evolved for living and surviving under this god awful sun, which is really a testament to human adaptability.

Hold your horses.
"Unaipon was also involved in political issues surrounding Aboriginal affairs and was a keen supporter of Aboriginal self-determination, including working as a researcher and witness for the Bleakley Enquiry into Aboriginal Welfare and lobbied the Australian Government to take over responsibility for Aboriginals from its constituent states. He proposed to the government of South Australia to replace the office of Chief Protector of Aborigines with a responsible board and was arrested for attempting to provide a separate territory for Aboriginals in central and northern Australia.
In 1936, he was reported to be the first Aboriginal to attend a levée, when he attended the South Australian centenary levée in Adelaide, an event that made international news.[13]
Unaipon's stance on Aboriginal issues put him into conflict with other Aboriginal leaders, including William Cooper of the Australian Aborigines' League, and Unaipon publically criticised the League's "Day of Mourning" held on the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet, arguing that the protest would only harm Australia's reputation abroad and would cement a negative public opinion of Aboriginals.[14]
He wanted
-abbos to be treated as citizens and nothing more. No 'aboriginal states'. (first paragraph, this is what it means. Not to be pandered to by the gov, but to be Australians.)
-abbos to not make a fuss of da white man being so ebil. Noted to not approve of those guys demanding an apology. (third paragraph)
-to find perpetual motion the madman
That's just wikipedia, I've been to Raukkan so I can't really cite the books and shit there. Doubt they're online.

Fauchery and Daintree's 1859 publication, Sun Pictures of Victoria, was the first photographic series of Australian scenes presented for sale to the public.
Featuring Victorian scenes such as landscapes and goldmining activities, the series included 12 images of Indigenous Victorians. Taking a very 19th Century approach to their subjects, the portraits show people in both traditional and western wear, documenting the effects of colonisation.

Australia Is Like This (c.1944)
About the film:
During World War II, two American soldiers on leave in Australia encounter several local women. To their good natured chagrin, every lovely lady is already spoken for, having their own Australian sweethearts in active service.
¬More
Oversexed, overfed, overpaid and over here. This oft heard phrase was coined in WW2 to describe American forces stationed in Britain and Australia, and implied a threat for some. Americans were perceived as a potential threat to Australian servicemen in terms of acquiring or keeping girlfriends and wives. In Australia is Like This, the point is quietly made that Americans visiting Australia were welcome to look , but not touch.
This is an extract from Australia Is Like This, an Australian propaganda film, produced circa 1944. It uses the narrative device of an American soldier writing a letter home, to illustrate the Australian way of life for American audiences . The film introduces the viewer to sights of Sydney and Melbourne, surfing and skiing, an Australian pub, a Red Cross kitchen and a suburban home, including a comic scene of the American soldier attempting to eat peas with his fork.
The film is identified as title number F03013 in the National Collection of the Australian War Memorial.
