First, there's the obvious problem of them overgrazing. The replacement rate of the shrub and grasslands out there is extremely slow - we're talking upwards of a century for things to return to some degree of normalcy. Basic innocuous shrubs out there have lifespans in the centuries and can easily be wiped out by grazing.
Secondly, their toenails are essentially like hooves. Hooves are fucking terrible for the Australian outback - the ground in-between shrubs and grasses might look like bare dirt but is in fact covered by a crust of lichens. Hooves break up and kill the lichens. If the lichens are dead then it's very easy for the top soil to blow away with the wind, further reducing the already extremely low fertility of the soil.
I remember hearing a story about how out near Woomera in the 40s, some drunk army officers took their landrover for an offroad drive. The tire tracks are still there, 70 years later.
As for wild dogs/dingoes, fuck em. Dingoes were only introduced about 3 or 4000 years ago, and they rendered the thylacine and tasmanian devil extinct on the mainland. They were the only apex marsupial predators left in the world.
