What VPN do you guys use, and how much do you pay /month? I was literally going to start a thread saying why do you m8s use a VPN here but after watching this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVWVnpUIvAk
I've reconsidered my view on VPN's. I am NEET so I can't afford much every month apart from everything I'm currently paying for.
Please help, m80s.

I use Mullvad.
I have been having a few problems with the connection to be honest and only use it when I'm doing something shameful now.

Is it tinfoil hat stuff or for kiddy porn ?

Don't want to get sued for downlaoding torrents
There is a slight risk I will come under surveillance for far right political views and don't want the pigs to know everything I have ever said, or to laugh at my taste in (adult) porn.

Even if you're not doing anything illegal, the idea that some large faceless government entity can just snoop on your private communications at will without your knowledge is rather unsettling. Protecting my communications with a VPN is essentially a way of giving a middle-finger to the government and saying fuck off, respect my liberties you cunts.

That poster here.
See, that's the thing. All this surveillance shit used to be considered as either part of tinpot Commie regimes or an Orwellian fantasy, and yet now it's actually happening to us and no one gives a fucking fuck.
Honestly, fuck the majority of people. Fuck them all. People deserve exactly the type of government they get, and the mass apathy of the West has given us this. They all fucking deserve it.

I just rent cheap vps's on the other side of the world, and proxy through them. I figure they're slightly less likely to be under scrutiny than vpn's. Maybe.

When do you think it's a good idea to invest in a vpn?
I don't watch porn or torrent anything, but I'm getting paranoid that even just accessing 8chan is going to flag me as someone the government should be watching.

Well, with the chans getting airtime in australia, hate speech starting to become a thing, that fellow getting 3 years jail for speaking out against the jews, data retention laws and the government taskforces targeting websites such as these and cp being spammed on here, I guess paranoia is natural response.

Mullvad, it's $7.30 a month and you can pay with bitcoin if you want. Total anonymity through and through (plus they're fairly quick to respond if you email in for support)

I just paid for a month with Mallvad, shit's a bit slow, I don't get the same speed downloading torrents with it on then without. Is there something I need to do to fix this? Like opening some ports or some shit? I noticed this when I logged into the mullvad site.

Delete your firefox profile.
Firefox is best for privacy and freedoms.

Try disabling flash. Most videos do work without flash.
If you want full html5 support with youtube you might have to do this http://www.ghacks.net/2014/07/25/enable-mse-h2-64-support-youtube-firefox-right-now/

By that You mean uninstalling completely? It is a a hazard having it anyways ay?
No.35556

Uninstalling it is recommended but sometimes videos don't properly work with html5.
So it is really up to you if you want to value security and privacy over a bit of convenience.
You can also play youtube videos using VLC and mpv.

Any of you cunts using TorGuard?
8chan is blocked via OpenDNS on the Melbourne and Sydney connections.
Can any other anons confirm this? and anybody know how to get around it?
No.36347
>>36345
I tried TorGuard, I was getting shit speeds. As in, my speed without a VPN is 35mbps, and on TorGuard it was 2mbps. I can't remember if 8chan worked or not, I got a refund straight away and swapped to Private Internet Access. I get 25mbps from a few different servers with them.
>>35529
Thanks for pointing this out. My IP was leaking through webRTC on Chromium. There's supposedly an extension that blocks webRTC requests, but the extension is still susceptible to attacks unless I block all javascript, which I should probably be doing anyway. I'm swapping to Firefox now.
