What do people think of those big arse utes?
Nissan Navaras and Mitsubishi Tritons and ones like that?
I really like the look of them but I was reading that some people think they are for suburban men having a mid-life crisis and wanting to pretend they are men of the land or some shit.
I don't want to become a meme.

You could say what make they are m8.

Uncle had a triton. Thing I noticed is the tray is small as fuck which seemed impractical. He is also basically a city fag with an office job so the stereotype fits.
I think hatch backs are good for moving stuff in suburbia. Depends what ya going to use it for
No.33390
>>33389
>the tray is small as fuck
Yeah it looks like it would be pretty much useless. A commodore or a camry with a trailer attached would probably do a better job or hauling shit around.
I don't want to be a meme, but I really dislike the idea of driving a normal sedan though.
But every car I look at seems to be embarrassing in some way and associated with people I don't want to be identified with.
No.33392

I guess you have to chose whether you want the extra seats or a big tray. I'd go with the bigger tray but you might only need it for smaller items.
No.33394

>extra seats or a big tray
The 4 seats seem pretty standard these days. They do make a two seat version with a bigger tray, but you don't see very many of them on the market.
Strictly speaking I don't actually need a tray all, but I would like to think that will change in the future as I get more hands on with building stuff in the backyard etc.

Nissan Navaras are pretty good for a ute but they're really uncomfortable in comparison to most similarly sized sedans. Unless you don't need a ute for work or hauling shit don't get one. Get a wagon if you want to carry shit and also have a comfortable fun car.

That's not too bad, did he give you a few years of servicing and repairs warranty at least?
I'm looking for something too in range of 10-15k but it's pretty fucked up when your car knowledge is limited, many people make a killing out of buying salvages from auctions and fixing them up to sell.
Also gotta watch out for cars with finance owing on them ( you actually have to fucking pay to do a history check lol).
Not to mention many cars have their odometer spun back (digital ones are even easier to tamper with these days than the old school analogues).
It's a lucrative racket with autoshops in on it, can't even trust genuine looking service log books anymore because all it is is a fucking stamp, KM reading and a signature that even coons can forge.
Yep, the used car market is a sweat mate.

Most girls drive little bubble cars that are really low to the ground, so they notice the difference when they hop into a bigger, taller, bulkier car.
It's got nothing to do with how common they are, it's the experience of being in one. Like I said, they'll rag on you for having one but as soon as they get in they like it.
I don't know what it is, some psychological thing.

you paid eight grand for a fucking ten year old car. furthermore, you purchased your second hand vehicle from a dealer.
you are a fucking idiot. 90 thousand k's is too much for an 8k pricetag. you could literally buy an 06 model on carsales for less than that. fuck. give me 8k and I'll negotiate an 09 camry with nice k's from carsales or something. you are an idiot.

On top of that, I'm beginning to not trust some of the odometer readings I'm seeing.
That one is a case in point, a 10 year old fleet car with only 90,000km on it?
Where I'm from at least fleet cars have usually done more mileage than regular second hand cars (though they've often been treated better).

truth be told, government owned cars are very clean and aren't used often. we just purchased a 2012 focus for my sister with 39k' on the clock for 11 grand from a government auction.
you gotta know where to look. our government is terrible with money, they sell good, quality vehicles at liquidation/car auctions and spend taxpayer dosh to replace them with newer vehicles.
just by paying attention to these auctions you can make great buys. if you remember, the government replaced their land rovers with aus made hawkei vehicles. well, we bought an old rover from a liquidation auction for 8k and sold it on for 11. fully service history from the department of defence. still a good quality vehicle with low kms but they sold it because our governmetn is run by five year olds with ADD who must have the new shiny thing.
