I don't think it's going to be the big collapse we're waiting for, or at least, I'm waiting for.
So I don't think any prep is specifically necessary for this. In the long term i think it'd be best to get off the grid and become resource independent. If anything happens people who don't have their own water tanks or food sources are fucked. The question is how hard will the people on rural land have to work to keep the hoards of suburban cockroaches out of their cellars.
I'm ready to eat people if it ever comes to that though.
