From what I can tell, practically all the small boards on 8chan suffered because of that particular problem. People would check the front page of a board and find it hadn't changed for hours or days, so they'd assume no one else was using the board and thus abandoned it. iirc the biggest 8 or so boards are on separate servers so they weren't as badly affected by the problem.
Things are still a bit iffy for 8ch, with user counts on all boards being lower than they were even just a few months ago, but with most of the technical problems now out of the way I do genuinely feel a bit of hope for this site for the first time in a long time. Maybe things will be okay after all.
