I hate to do it, but his reasoning why some people aren't refugees is pathetic "They are rich iranians, they aren't refugees".
Complete bullshit, first thing about living in a totalitarian regime, those in positions of power or have wealth are the ones with the biggest targets on their heads. Look at for example, Stalinist Russia, if you were an average person just doing their job in some factory in some shithole town, you would go through life in Stalinist Russia with not a worry in the world, if you lived in Moscow, were a member of the Communist Party and were well off, there is like a 50/50 chance you will be killed by a purge. Same with say North Korea, live on some collective farm, oh well, you'll live basically somewhat of an average life, live in Pyongyang though and you're life hangs on the edge of a knife, step out of line or do something wrong, off to a camp for you, as many experts note, Pyongyang is the most dangerous place in North Korea.
A rich or powerful Iranian has many reasons to flee, actually more than your average person, get on the wrong side of someone in the Government who holds power with no oversight? You will be packing bags and fleeing the country with a suitcase of $500,000 dollars in any fucking way you can.
I would also find it strange that someone rich wouldn't just come by plane and overstay a visa if they weren't a refugee.
