Those 12,000 'syrian' refugees Australia is taking in will mostly be going to Sydney and Melbourne, because the governments want to keep them in their own communities, and the biggest muslim communities in Oz are in sydney and melbourne.
Less than 5 will go to queensland, because they have family there, and those family are expected to move south when they get there.
The organisations responsible for the resettling of the refugees expect that their nationwide services will be saturated within three financial years.
I just found all this out on a refugee information night, and thought it was information regulars here would want to know.
