There are undoubtedly some people in the MRA community that have a channel but perhaps are stuggling for an interesting angle that would draw in non-MRAs. What about some humor while destroying common stereotypes of MRAs?

We have all seen the negative stereotypes of MRAs claimed several times. The stereotype is a:

"cis gendered" (ie not a trans)

white male

usually has some unattractive traits (like obesity, a shrill voice, or unkempt facial hair)

Unemployed

Living in mother's basement.

and is angry/rude at women

also having no (or appearing not to have) sexual relationships with women.

I have often seen it observed in comments of various MRA videos (usually featuring male feminists)

that viewers notice that the male feminists seem to fit that stereotype more so than genuine MRAs.

What if MRA content producers like Drrandomercam and Bane666 made a video series where they showcased

that the people who most accurately resemble the stereotype of MRAs are not MRAs but male feminists?

I have contacted both bane666 and DrRandomercam about this but not sure if they got the message.

It could be they missed the message or already swamped with projects of thier own.

Perhaps more people can share this with them and other MRA content producers who are looking for something that can be very comedic and informative as well.

A good example of this is Angry Aussie (he is the bloke in the pic attached to this post). Entertaining vid related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq3pERmJzso.

Other candidates who resemble stereotypical MRAs in looks and/or behavior are folks like Onisian (sp),

Matt Binder "Mr 70's Haircut", Cenk (from TYT), and Bob Chipman (moviebiob).

Anyone want to do a video featuring one of these with examples of how they resemble the negative stereotypes of MRAs?

Could even title it "Male Feminist or MRA?" Throw in a few MRAs to contrast them with.

https://media.8ch.net/gamergatehq/src/1433974231401.png nice image shows jon macintosh and another male feminist dissing a feminist who is pro gamergate and anti-patriarchy theory calling her "not a true feminist". A woman shows up on their feed pointing out (according to their own dogma) they are wrong cause they are men telling a woman she is wrong about feminism. Sick burn.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VZKU6FVNrUA awesome clip from Thunderfoot chronicling the infighting taking place in Atheism + community. Basically the female SJWs are stunned STUNNED that many of the males in their community are "creepy" "harassing" and "toxic" to women. Any of the men featured here could also be a candidate for "MRA or Male Feminist" question since they have physical and personality traits often (inaccurately) applied to MRAs.

The stereotypes are being used to stone wall people out of conversation by discrediting them, and then herding people into not taking them seriously and/or not take part in the group since they themselves don't wish to be mocked.

It's herd behavior.

Getting people, you mentioned people already to be contacted that have clout already, to point out that the stereotypes are bullshit makes a lot of sense and I support it.

Can you link in here the people's contact on their youtubes, or however you tried to contact them. Perhaps if it was more then just you asking, but more then they will see it and see that it is many people wanting it.

>male feminist dissing a feminist who is pro gamergate and anti-patriarchy theory calling her "not a true feminist".

They are right though, and this is also important in trying to reduce numbers in feminism. See, a lot of people are egalitarian or womens rights activists and they just join up with feminism because it is popular and claims to be about what they are about.

To be a feminist you must conform to their ideology of patriarchy theory thats fostered over like 50 years. So a way to convert "feminist" that are only calling themselves that for the sake of having a label on wanting to be an activist in equality is also needed.

>Anyone want to do a video featuring one of these with examples of how they resemble the negative stereotypes of MRAs?

I would. So, we would just need to help compile a list of MRA that don't fit the bill and Male feminist that do fit MRA stereotypes?

Go to the about page under baneau666 or drrandomercam page there is an option there to contact the video maker. Using this method is the path I had. I also placed comments in a couple of recent vids but I figure it is drowned out with the other comments they have.

Here is another confrontation by male feminists against anti-feminist Lauren Southern.

Canadian Libertarian Party leadership has decided that popular candidate Lauren Southern (popular with general public as well as in their Party) is to be removed from their candidate list for wrong-think.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/07/02/canadian-libertarians-in-revolt-after-party-leadership-suspends-anti-feminist-candidate-lauren-southern/

Her "crime" is she is skeptical of dogmas like "rape culture" and considers herself and anti-feminist. She is also Twitter friends with folks like Karen Straughan (sp). (The Horrors!). She had made a popular Youtube video where she confronted feminists about their dogma and filmed their reactions. This is one of the reasons she is so popular. It is also one of the reasons she was kicked out of the Canadian LP. The image is a screen cap of a current member of LP who was offended by her anti-feminist stance (even though feminism goes hand in hand with an interventionist government that libertarians are supposed to oppose). Burnison (man in screencap conversation) claims to be "objective" and then admits total ignorance of the term SJW. As if he can't do a simple search on the internet and get an idea of what it is used to describe. This type of willful ignorance is annoying to me (and that comes from a person who considers themselves libertarian). There are no exceptions to willful ignorance. No exceptions whichever label the person has who has that trait.

The irony is the woman in this case is Christina Hoff Summers, who has a Youtube series called The Factual Feminist. I suspect what you mentioned about well meaning activists being lied to about feminism = gender equality for more than a few decades is spot on. CH Summers was a woman's rights activist before her feminist detractors were even born and acquired the label's image probably in a time when the popular concept had not yet been ruined (by those doing even basic research) into the openly anti-male Chanty Binks infamy. Sommers apparently was not bitten by the Patriarchy theory bug when it came out. I suspect because she expanded her involvement in the world beyond "gender studies" and therefore this all pretty much surprised her to see, decades later, a group of bigots calling themselves feminists, a label that she (mistakenly) sees as being about genuine equality. John Macintosh (see the twitter conversation) would make a good MRA or SJW candidate since he is white, presumable straight, born into a well off American family, and styles himself as a pseudo-intellectual who dismisses the arguments of women and minorities (if they happen to be anti-feminist).

The unfortunate thing about willful ignorance these days is that it isn't just people being lazy. That is way too reductionist to think on those terms. The biggest things playing a role in how people think these days is 1. education and 2. propaganda

Both are essentially brainwashing people into being non-thinkers. Everything is emotion based. Schools, under the guise of a "better" non-offensive environment, prey upon happy feels. There is no more competition, it makes people feel bad, but it reduces any sense of challenge (this effects men/boys the most because, by nature, are competitive - no wonder boys are starting to test waaay low these days). Propaganda in media also deals with emotion, but it is a tendency towards fear/anxiety in order to change our minds, get up to approve something/someone, or disapprove of something.

Creating this environment where people are catering to emotion first is making people not think, at all. Emotion doesn't happen in the front of the brain where higher reasoning would take place it happens in the older parts towards the back of the brain. Primal instinct with no independent thought.

I also added a vidya of Charlotte Iserbyt in the vidya thread, also. She details a lot of the education system. She speaks about it in terms of american education, but canada and other countries have adopted the methods as well.

To prove my point on propaganda being everywhere i recommend studying Edward Bernay. He founded public relations (added vidya to show why he calls it public relations rather then propaganda)

I could have expressed myself better when I was venting about the guy in an earlier post. He was unwilling to inform himself of the SJW issue even though it was causing a split in his party, yet called himself “objective”. I still think it is something to call out when I see it. But it is important not to regard it purely as laziness. It is more like learned helplessness.

I was home-schooled for most of high school and then took a one day test to acquire a high school diploma so I could go onto college. I got my diploma and went to college and saw something that made little sense to me at the time but the more I learn about how schooling works and it's stated objectives (by the school founders but no longer admitted by the public school administrators of today) the more it makes sense.

I observed a pattern with many fellow college students. Many people who went from public school to college were often unwilling to engage the teacher in conversation in several classes. Even though the teacher was trying to encourage questions and was not threatening. He/She would be trying to engage the Socratic method and all that students were focused on was “will this be on the test?” Few people were willing to engage in dialogue with the teachers and go in depth in many of the classes, which ranged from history, economics, and math. I even remember one female classmate who shied away from doing a report on Ethiopia because “I will have to talk about all those starving kids.” It was puzzling to me that someone could have empathy for someone and as a result *not* want to find our how things went so tragically wrong and to communicate with others what important lessons could be learned about such a tragedy. I saw it as a challenge that has a strong worth since human lives were at stake. But she totally abandoned the Ethiopia subject for another one where she would not have such strong “feelings”.

Much information can be acquired and processed in little time if people are encouraged to be auto-didacts (self-teachers). This was essentially what people of the Renaissance and the American Revolution were involved in for their education. They were not graduates of what would be recognized today as a “school”.

Though the problem with schools is unfortunately much more sinster than the last twenty years with the focus on “feels”. It is undoubtedly a problem that people from previous generations still alive can observe as destructive trends, but there are several layers to this conditioning for people who go to school to develop learned helplessness and make decisions irrational rather than with careful examination and fact checking.

This video gives a summary of some of the intentions the public school founders had and how it has unfolded in other countries. He has a site that goes into more depth about how critical thinking was subverted here.
