You could also call modern film, manufacture, farming, music, business, etc, etc all American culture, but the other side of the laissez faire coin is that we shared our progress with the world even more than Britain and France did, both willingly and unwillingly.
When people talk about creating a "world culture", they're really complaining because there is a world culture and it's disproportionately composed of European and American ideas because we did super well.

Well, that's because you're a European with a shallow, media-driven knowledge of the US. Third biggest country in the world by landmass and population. Not at all. You can actually distinguish the way people speak from town to town in many cases, relating to where they came from in the US or from europe. My dad grew up 1.5 hours from where I did, and people often thought he was a foreigner. And differences in dress were distinguishable until recently. Even a texas and montana cowboy were distinguable by their clothes and gear. And while I couldn't tell people in New England apart, they always could.
