>manage computer security for several clients

>all users are non-admin by default

>except one

>company president claims he needs to be domain admin

>no reason given; just wants to have an admin account

>get a call from the client

<Hey, I was looking for a free pdf editor

<I found one that I thought was good because it was only 10k

<I installed it, but then my computer started running all slow and I got an error message telling me to call a support number

<I called it, and some Indian guy told me I had to install more support software on my computer

<I did, then he said the problem was on the domain controller and I had to install support software there

<I did, then he thanked me and hung up. Now everyone's computer is running slow and the internet is really slow.

How's your Friday going /b/?

>allowing the client to do literally anything

I told him there was no point, and that it was a security issue. And he owns the company, so it's not like I can go over his head and get a superior to force him not to do it. At the end of the day, he's the one that pays the invoice every month, so if he wants to be retarded I have to work around it.

>not doing any research

I was never contacted before he decided to install a RAT on the DC.

>>8581317

I could. But he pays me a lot. So it's kinda worth it.

>>8581377

Already have. He blamed me for "letting him" do it, to which I just copy pasted the email chain where I explained in detail why he didn't need to be a domain admin and the dangers of giving him admin privileges to him.

Yeah but i think you can still expect to lose the business. The guy has to save face and blame someone. He'll probably blame your lacking security protocols. Assuming he's as much of an idiot as it appears.

>you can still expect to lose the business

I very well might. I've got more business than I can handle at the moment, so at this point the only effect that might have will be that maybe I won't hire another person.

Honestly if your a contractor then just see about dropping it. If there are no backups due to his incompetence and everything is fucked just give it to him straight. Just don't prioritize this asshole over other clients

Dude, people still send spam emails because people still fall for it. Don't get me started on businesses paying 2x the price for something simply because it has "for business" on it and other businesses buy it. They're not that sharp on the lower end…
