Welcome to Baltic.
This thread is to decide the rules for /baltic/.
Everyone can write the basic rules they want and would prefer to see. My suggestions:
1) Lewd permitted, but must be spoilered
2) Languages: Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and English. Dialects allowed.
Add your own.
Latvian symbols
Thread about symbols and ancient Latvian signs. In this thread you will be able to see the old signs and their versions. You will be able to look at a simple scarf or hat from Latvia and "translate" what it means. You will be able to compare the symbolic meanings with ones from your own country.
Not to be confused with the occult and paganism. These signs were used by everyone and considered to be guardians or bringers of good signs. While there were some "witches" who knew what signs to draw in their house and there are legends about all houses burning down, except theirs, we do not have to hold that view.
These signs appear in a lot of places and are really important. If you build a house, you need a sign for "house" placed somewhere. Your granary needs "prosperety" and the like.
While they had fallen out of popularity because of obvious reasons, they are reemerging and more and more young people recognize them and see them as important.
Urban exploration/Soviet corpses
Thread about old Soviet army bases, living quarters and the likes.
It is worth to mention that, before Rus left Baltic states, they sabotaged all the mechanisms that could have been of worth. Everything got drilled and broken so that it can not be used.
Also, old buildings. Many of them were army bases (usually at the sea coast) so that people would not escape and there is no more need for them.
Many were artificially built "cities" with a big house next to a factory. Those were unsustainable in the long run without heavy government subsidies.
