Unholy Survey 1: The best cars bashdash4 11/27/14 (Thu) 01:21:01 No. 530
As you all know, I am a massive gearhead. I am about to acquire my first car, which will be one of the most important decisions I will ever make. Right now, should i be unable to inherit the Beemer, I am choosing between a Ford Mustang, a Nissan Maxima, and a Fiat 500(one of the sporty ones). This being said, do you guys have any recommendations? What do you drive now? Can you tell me why it's a good first car? Points will be given for: 1. The best car 2. The best picture 3. The best explanation That's right, this is worth 3 POINTS. Let's hope you've got a good ride, you might become an unholy champion! (Feel free to be as serious or as silly as possible. Though I would like serious advice, you guys are very funny and I love the jokes you tell!)

>>596 I can understand your dislike for entry-level full-size Japanese sedans and Italian compacts (not really the kind of cars you'd expect me to buy but I think they have some appeal), but Mustangs and Beemers are very capable, nice, fast cars.
As for tuners, the Impreza is a nice car but I'm not necessarily looking for that kind of car right now. If I am to get a Japanese sports car I'd get a roadster, either a Nissan 370Z, a Mazda MX-5 Miata or a used Mitsubishi Eclipse. Maybe a Scion FR-S.

>>612 I own a base model Impreza, it's roomy and has AWD. That's why I mentioned it here. Especially since the weather is shit where I live.

>>614 My mother's Audi Q7 is also roomy and has 4WD.
I'm mainly concerned with performance and luxury/features above all else. I want my car to look fast and go faster.

>>616 Ah. I'd go with something that isn't a ford TBH. They've been recalling shit like crazy lately, and let's not forget various engineering marvels such as the AXOD family of transmissions or the ecoboost fires.

>>617 I thought that was GM that did all the recalls.
But though the Mustang doesn't have any major issues as far I can see, I will definitely try and be careful.
If I am not to get a Ford, then what other performance vehicle is suitable? A Dodge? A 4-series BM? The Jaguar XE R-Sport would've been an option but that doesn't come to the States until 2016.

>>618 Ford had to recall a bunch of Power Steering systems, while many haven't been recalled yet.
Dodge or any Mopar, a Subaru/Scion BRZ/FRS, or a VW brand I'd personally recommend. I miss my Grandma's Chrysler van, it never had as many problems as my Ford Taurus which has had the check engine light on nearly 24/7.
I still see plenty of old mopars on the road, I can't say the same about Ford or to a lesser extent GM. I still sometimes see K-Cars even, and I live in a state where many cars get rusted away.
Thanks! Looks like you won this. bashdash4 12/06/14 (Sat) 05:52:06 No. 621
>>619 Alright. Thanks. Those are good suggestions, but I'll likely be looking for a muscle car so it'll definitely be either a Challenger/Charge or a Mustang. It will be a hard decision, and I'll have to take everything into account. Otherwise, I'll probably get an FR-S or whatever sporty thing VW has.
I guess this means that you win the original Unholy Survey. I'm quite impressed, you know your cars.

>619 And thanks for giving me the information on the recalls. I now know that Ford isn't as reliable as I think and I know what I might have to face should I get a Mustang. It will be a hard decision indeed.

>>626 Thanks for the suggestion, but if I'm going to get a Honda, I'll probably get an Acura car, a Civic SI, or, if I can find one, an NSX.
