We're starting to see A LOT of Lagunitas IPA round these parts and can be picked up in shops cheaper than a Brewdog and that's not a bad thing I love it, was on one I found in the bar fridge last night. It's also being sold in Wetherspoons(cheap UK chain pub) now at only £2.50 a bottle.
Girls names, I like the theme although I've not seen any here in England and doubt we will, also a continental theme in your tastes which is also interesting. From reading books (Vinnie Chilurzo, Garrett Oliver, Sam Calli-whatchyoumucallit from dogfish head) US brewers really look to the UK and Europe for beer fondness and yet all my favourite UK brewers (Brewdog, Magic Rock, Kernel and Summerwine) look to US brewers for inspiration, I guess it's what's different is exciting but with out US brewers looking to replicate old world styles, the UK brewers would probably be churning out multiple pales or the same old stouts that the uneducated palate just laps up because?? Well they don't know any different. As you say it's great to go to so many places and get a well made tasty beer but now that was happening the flip side of that is people like Guinness or Wells are now jumping on the bandwagon (and have better salesmen or profit margins) and are brewing craft beers. I refuse to try the Guinness brews on principle (see https://www.brewdog.com/lowdown/blog/diageo-screw-brewdog) and when I tasted the Charles Wells vs Dogfish Head DNA fuck I was so disgusted at Sam I felt like tweeting him there and then to express my outrage at his sell out, but I didn't I remained British and hid my disappointment. I'm late out of the bath now better get a move on as I can ramble on a bit.
