Guilty pleasures thread. What's yours?

I actually quite like Corona Extra as long as it's with a slice of lime. Tasty and refreshing, especially in the summer time. I know there's better alternatives, but they usually cost a lot more.

Brewdog - Dead Pony Club

This is a 3.8% session pale ale, a favourite and a regular in my fridge. Aromas remeniscent of melon and strawberry but on the tongue melon gives way to a limey twang. The flavours are delicate but zero malt flavours making this a bitter little ripper

Flying Dog - Pale Ale 5.5%

This beer pours lovely, a nice head stays on the glass when swilled around the glass. The aromas smelled like sweet fruits again, the smell just reminds me of an Anderson Valley Hop Ottin IPA. The taste is different, clean bitterness with a very citrus taste almost lemon but the back taste has a hint of sweetness to lift the beer a little.

I was intending to try a German pils but only the mouth stripping hoppy dryness of a Mallinsons - Centennial 4.0% will cut through the >>>/burgers/ I had for tea. To call this a pale ale is misleading Single Malt and Single Hop or SMaSH would be better and this one obviously Centennial and probably Maris Otter. Very little head retention when poured from the bottle, a little yeast to dodge at the bottom but I don't mind I love this beer, little citrus and pine pine pine. A clean beer but the bitterness is like a wonderful marriage between some dank ass hops and tea combined. There's a rose flavour in there somewhere if you're good. I love the Mallinsons SMaSH range, they have a way of really marrying the hops to the wort (isomerizing) there's very little separation in this beer.

No beer advocate :O

Yo what up? Never heard of this brewery (why would I in england?) so thanks. If your camera man is so autistic about pouring beer without yeast why does he let you pour all your beers so badly? Firstly I've not really noticed stout flavours being affected by yeast being poured in so I won't worry with stouts with yeast but I do taste yeast in pales and IPAs (being a Britbong we are a lot more tolerant to yeast, very few brewers force carbonate or filter beer, this is changing with the craft scene, even I have bottled some beers that have been force carbonated and I run my bar off corniekegs unless a large event is planned) so i'll avoid it with those but your pouring technique needs work. You can lose hop oils to foam in your head so pouring with a massive head will rob your beer of more oils than pouring a small head, again never really a worry with stouts but when your paying for extra hops in a IPA then why lose out? Pouring drinks slowly and with your glass at a 45ish degree angle to your body will keep the carbonation in the beer and only straighten up at the end for a tiny head, there are exceptions to the rule such a wheatbeers that suit the yeast being poured in and a massive foamy head forming. Also a good stout usually forms it's own head no problem. Also why no see through shirt? Apart from those schoolboy errors 7/10

Tasting notes please ??

Sam Calagoine is quite a hero to me; I really enjoyed his book on the story of Dogfish Head but alas I have only tried 2 of his beers :( one was made with some grape must and aged in wine barrels ? bit ulrgh really, interesting an definately held the flavors together I'm just not a white wine man. the other was a cask 90min IPA at the GBBF V.RARE IN THE UK. and I loved every sip of it.

Root beer aswell ? it's not even a thing in the UK but I just googled it and it is made with sassafras root, can people just obtain sassafras in the states ? It's locked down in the EU due to MDMA production ! I'm guessing technically the molasses and cane sugar would be the fermentables and make it unfit for >>>/beer but it looks more like it appeals to adults rather than than the garish packaging on the alcopop (clearly intended for babbies first drink in the park) posted earlier and the skill in blending and producing a rootbeer must be more than adding some yeast to some over sugared lemon water.

Giving a taste review would make it more acceptable than just what do you think of x?

Cooking beer pizzas basically substituted half the water for erdinger white, added chocolate stout to one pan of passata and a rauchbier in another pan of passata also in a separate pan real low and slow heat without stirring(preserves alium sugars) shallots and garlic then added brewdog Jack Hammer in tiny amounts every so often dash of salt n pepper just a little bit and some other Italian herbs, drinking left over stouts now :D

BACON SANDWICH

GREAT WITH: BLOODY MARY

PERFECT PAIR: DUCHESSE DE BOURGOGNE

BREWED IN: VICHTE, BELGIUM

ABV: 6.2%

Sometimes only a bacon sandwich will help your

hangover and‘ it’s a safe bet and a guarantee

that you’ll feel better after eating one. With a

Bloody Mary it turns into something rather

more exciting and feels like a genuine pairing;

umami-rich tomato loves salty bacon, Tabasco

perks you up with a kick of heat, the

Worcestershire sauce adds more saltiness, and

you’re getting a crucial hit of healthy juice. Try

swapping the Bloody Mary for a Rodenbach or.

_Duchesse de Bourgogne, which always make me

think of tomato juice or ketchup: acetic, peppery

with wood tannin; there’s sweetness, an umami

richness, iron—like and then some vinous sour

fruits. It’s brilliant with bacon..

Yeah man, we been out with the dog today and all the trees are bronzing up lovely and i'm sat under a duvet; reading with a tasty stout. A little thin and a little too dry for me but that's just nitpicking really. Have you tried Sam Smiths Yorkshire Stingo? Title says a lot. A thread for wisdom and knowledge about beer. I'm passing this knowledge on mainly from one book by Jeff Evans which I won at a CAMRA national beer festival.

Feel free to add to

The Manx Pure Beer Act

Germany is not the only the only part of the world where the ingredients used to make beer are strictly controlled. Consider the following act from Isle of Man legislature.

'''The Brewers’ Act 1874

Paragraph 18: Miscellaneous

No brewer shall use in the brewing, making, mixing with, recovering

or colouring, any beer or liquid made to resemble beer, or have in his

possession any copperas, coculus Indicus, nux vomica, grains of

paradise, Guinea pepper, or opium, or any article, ingredient or

preparation whatever, for, or as a substitute for, malt or sugar or hops.

For any offence against this section, the person offending shall incur a

penalty of three hundred pounds. And all such beer, or other liquid

brewed, made, or mixed as aforesaid, and also all the beer grounds

and stale beer brewed, made or mixed as aforesaid and all copperas,

coculus Indicus, nux vomica, grains of paradise, Guinea pepper,

opium, and every other article, ingredient, or preparation as aforesaid

(other than malt and sugar) in the custody and possession of such

brewer, together with every copper, cooler, tun, vat or other vessel or

utensil whatsoever, in which any such beer, liquid, material, article,

ingredient, or preparation shall be contained, or which shall have been

made use of or employed for or in the brewing, making, mixing with,

recovering, or colouring such beer or liquid, shall be forfeited to Her

Maiesty, her heirs and successors.'''

Why do you need to capture everytime ?

Greasy doughnuts ? don't sound too pleasant but maybe you could give them to Scotland and let me in on some of your next batch ? You know damn well I have to visit family on Sunday you twat but I'll drop in for left overs if that's ok ?

No idea m8.

Stress in the kitchen so i'm having a smoke and chillin here tasting beers. Founders vs Sam Smiths Porter for the Ossu buco and I think Sam smith is winning as there seems to be a heavier malt coffee taste Founders seems to be a bit shallow in richness. Call round if you like but it's Pete and family coming so I doubt leftovers will be a thing.back to it

Wow, just wow! I never took final photos and I hit many speed bumps on the way but it was a success I was really surprised. Roast garlic and Duvel soup? Amazing! It sounded like some Francophille rank mess but it works and it works well, really sweet and the beer put an interesting edge to it, a weird floral zing I guess but i'd been taste testing beers all morning. For the bread I went with Erdinger white bottle purely because I had so many half bottles I'd opened to taste still on the go, I wanted to save a small sip of each beer used for the guests. But i'll recreate this week with the scheiderweisse tap 7 for the infographic. A bit heavy I thought but I guess my tin was very small for the amount. Still not a bad bread and it had wheatbeer in so winwin :D ossu buco, well I should have ordered shin steaks with bone in, what I got was an entire shin sans bone so I had to cut it myself and I can't say I had the right knife and it ended up more butchered than I thought but the meat was fall apart tender and the sauce was super rich, will make again. And the IPA pavlovas, again due to oven timings they got extra mixed I forgot the vinegar for sheen and vanilla flavouring. But the texture was like merengue crunchy on the outside and marshmallow melted on the inside, and the strawberries and IPA lemon curd did add a tartness as the beer (over)whipped cream and IPA pavlovas were sweet, hints of that IPA citrus but no bitterness.

Been busy cooking wheat beer breads, just nipped into pub for a wheat IPA from wharfe bank, not amazing, not a good IPA and I've had better wheat beers, suppose in the haze of a summers eve with some antipasto it could be half refreshing. Knocked up another chocolate Chipotle Ilkley mayan sloppy joe batch for tea and I got some more ilkley mayan pulled pork in the oven for tomorrow night. Just gotta finish the sesame buns then all done, Roosters Fort Smith can to see me through it all
