After Brewdog we hit up Bundobust where I had an Ilkley Mary Jane export and the a Mikkeller Pete Pale & Mary with the Mikkeller being a favourite. And things started getting hazy from here but i'm sure we grabbed a burger to eat and caught a train outta the big city and back to the sticks for a quick pint of First Chop - One Love in the local, very fruity hop flavour but zero malt character

Last night was pretty bad. I went to check out the beer scene in the old town I used to go drinking in. All mediocre beers in embarrassingly empty bars. One bar had no-one under 40 in it and had a DJ who did no mixing and talked to the crowd in-between tracks. The last bar we hit up I managed to get a bottle of Tiny Rebel FUBAR which wasn't bad but a little thin and under hopped. We didn't get in the last 'bar' on the strip and I say bar lightly as said bar has it's beer on show and not served through a handpull making the beer even good beer far too warm and flat for my tastes. Had to stop and get a can of 6point Bengal Tiger on the way home to soothe my disappointment. What did everyone else get to drink last night?

Interesting because I sank one of these last night and the Blackjack owner worked for Marble
Marble - Earl Grey IPA
Originally a joint brew with Vlur&Vlamm
Lovely almost sweety/candy like sweetness balanced out by that Earl Grey bitterness. Pricey but punchy and worth almost every penny

Had to go to hospital in the big smoke so on the way back I took a wrong turn and ended up at a nifty hipster little beer shop and scored a selection of US beauties, a Beavertown and a Mikkeller. Sank a ryePA can of 8ball on t'dog walk and just into the Hopvalley (Oregon) Alphadelic IPA. 8balls a damn good rye PA for me hardly any rye just a firm body and a real balance of bitter and flavouring hops with a tiptop head when decanted to glassware. The Hopvalley is the opposite 90ibu smacking you in the face just enough that the oil hides all 6.7% boozieness until you've swallowed it all and are puckering for more so you forgive the lack of head once decanted(we should have a glassware thread). 90ibu's nigga

No information about the brewery what so ever.
Bottle conditioned lovely head really bitter again hiding the liquorness of it, that real bitter lupulin smack in t'chops with aromas of stone fruit but it's a piney almost limey hit of flavour

what's new m8 ?
Went to a beer festival being held in Bingers town square. Lovely weather pretty good venue mostly pleb tier warm flat real ales served in plastic cups, I'd give them 100% fail if they weren't rescued by Northern Monk Pale Ale and Brewdog Dead Pony Club on keg. Refreshing and chilled perfect for the summer.

Nice, called in expensive pub serving low tier hand pulled ale so opted to be 'that guy' and got a Sierra Nevada part and a Brewdoge NannyState. Yes a 0.5% hop tea, bitter weirdly hoppy but yuk! Buy for experimental reasons only. Drunk some mallinsons and an Oats American pale ale. Pretty nice thought it did contain actual grapefruit juice. Comes from t'oyer t'ill in Halifax. Meh

I always thought it was 1% but I've just checked a label from the first batch and your right. Got up early to keg the last beer I made tasting ok but I always have trouble with low ABV beers. Seeing as though there will be no NZPA for the beer&bass tour this will probably go up with us, was hard to say as I'd used vodka to disinfect for the syphon. Grabbed some emergency beers for Beatherder. A selection of marble, a strong IPA from Northern Monk, plenty of Founders Centennial and will grab some bombers of punk probably tonight. One more sleep and it's rave time! CAN. NOT. W8!

No the caldera was from the Triangle, you need to go there he has some damn good beers from all over but he has those Yankee brews no-one else does. Rogue, Firestone Walker, Stone and smaller ones too.
Marbles were from the wines shop down the road from the Triangle.
Man its been gogogo since Beatherder, no more NZPA left :( shame cos I loved it, now we got 2 kegs on Hippo pale, a 4.3% pale to take the the beer&bass tour, bought a soda stream regulator to power it as nobody seems to fill the s30's anymore. Are you ready for Phillfest or what?

Shit I been in a >>>/beer/ dream for a while now:-
beer&beats tour
Great British Beer Festival & London
City of Industry opening festival at Northern Monk with Fingathing and DJ Format.
There were beers there from Clearwater(uk) Edge(Spain) and Yeastie Boys(NZ) and Northern Monk too, were all pretty amazing, hungover to shit at work yesterday and I hardly remember DJ Formats set and we got kicked out early for Nige being asleep on the bar but I remember the Edge double IPA being just what I like hoppy bold and on the bitter side and a beer called It's a Trap at around 7.2% having an immensely clean bitterness Jo akinned the taste to MDMA. The Patty Smith burger outside was pretty amazing too cooked flat with a filthy amount of condiments served on a brioche, never tried the pizzas from Sela Bar bus but they had Niges seal of approval.

That does look like a /beer/ calendar schedule m8, been a bit slack recently mainly due to funds, nothing on the horizon either maybe we can get to The Magic Rock Brewery Tap please soon ? Made a spicy pepper/mustard/horseraddish sauce to go with some Sirloins last night fired alot of Ilkley's Mary Jane pale in there, pretty rad on the chips and complimented the steak well as not too hoppy/bitter. Plans were to get on t'decks and bang some tunes out, not got there yet. Last night I cooked the most amazing chicken and leek pie which had a need for Saison from the Cooking with Beer book I bought a can of Beavertown Quelle for it, i've extracted the recipe and took photos which i'll post in the new cooking with beer thread. Banged a a shed load of Mallinsons last night Columbus, Galaxy and Calypso amazing and all different in their own right. On t'dog walk yesterday was beavertown 8ball and Neck Oil. Today's dog walk was DPC cans now available from Morrisons. Just started slow cooking a slab of belly pork marinated in Backyard brew Lawnmower amber lager, it's my own creation and I think I added to much fenel so I added veg for a stock and a wee bit of Camden Brewery Helles lager which I picked up from Boothes in Ilkley after today's walk. Also scored a Tailgate Sorta IPA and brewdog Hardcore IPA also a NØGNE Ø rhub'IPA oh and also a cheap founders Centennial for £1.95. Bargain! Is my weekend of so is my time for beer

You don't even know the half of it m8, I got another book, Craft Beer and Food by Mark Dredge the other day and have too more in the post as we speak, one is Garret Oliver's At the Brewmasters Table and the other is a beer and food book but I can't remember what exactly. I made a belly pork in lager(lawnmower) but it didn't work out right, meat was tough and too much fennel :(
Yeah you know I don't really do Morrisons, it's the staff and customers that wind me up, stupid ignorant morons and I usually end up telling them. But now I have a need to go in which annoys me.
Can you take next Wed or Thurs off work? We'll go to the Hudd then m8 and Magic Rock it up?
Gunna make a beer desert today, not sure what yet maybe a bieramissu or some beer doughnuts maybe? We'll see I guess
Edit to add: I was given a Black Jesus by Great Heck yesterday which it claims is a Black IPA but if you closed your eyes it was a stout plain and simple, didn't work with spaghetti bolgnese but did work with chocolate so go figure

That is a beer can burger like them BBQ pit boys make. Filled with pulled pork and deep fried pickles. Veritably good feast but I do prefer my burgers as finger food. You can try these doughnuts but I dunked them while frying for a better cooking but that's made 'em greasy. It's all a learning curve. No idea m8.
Stress in the kitchen so i'm having a smoke and chillin here tasting beers. Founders vs Sam Smiths Porter for the Ossu buco and I think Sam smith is winning as there seems to be a heavier malt coffee taste Founders seems to be a bit shallow in richness. Wow, just wow! I never took final photos and I hit many speed bumps on the way but it was a success I was really surprised. Roast garlic and Duvel soup? Amazing! It sounded like some Francophille rank mess but it works and it works well, really sweet and the beer put an interesting edge to it, a weird floral zing I guess but i'd been taste testing beers all morning. For the bread I went with Erdinger white bottle purely because I had so many half bottles I'd opened to taste still on the go, I wanted to save a small sip of each beer used for the guests. But i'll recreate this week with the scheiderweisse tap 7 for the infographic. A bit heavy I thought but I guess my tin was very small for the amount. Still not a bad bread and it had wheatbeer in so winwin :D ossu buco, well I should have ordered shin steaks with bone in, what I got was an entire shin sans bone so I had to cut it myself and I can't say I had the right knife and it ended up more butchered than I thought but the meat was fall apart tender and the sauce was super rich, will make again. And the IPA pavlovas, again due to oven timings they got extra mixed I forgot the vinegar for sheen and vanilla flavouring. But the texture was like merengue crunchy on the outside and marshmallow melted on the inside, and the strawberries and IPA lemon curd did add a tartness as the beer (over)whipped cream and IPA pavlovas were sweet, hints of that IPA citrus but no bitterness.

Been busy cooking wheat beer breads, just nipped into pub for a wheat IPA from wharfe bank, not amazing, not a good IPA and I've had better wheat beers, suppose in the haze of a summers eve with some antipasto it could be half refreshing. Just gotta finish the sesame buns then all done, Roosters Fort Smith can to see me through it all
