What would be the comfiest animal to own that isn't a traditional domesticated household pet? If you could somehow domesticate an animal to have as a pet what would it be? Assume that their food and habitat needs would not be an issue. By comfy I'm talking as in a friendly companion that you could chill with like a dog, feed treats, and cherish so more docile the better.

Some thoughts:

Pangolins seem really comfy, but have those long digging claws, might kind of suck.

Possums are bros but look weird.

My mind went to kiwis too, but they seem like they'd be hard to feed, I get the impression a kakapo would just eat whatever.

Giant Salamanders seem comfy, but that could just be their retarded looking faces.

Yes, I love these dumb looking guys too, would be cool to sit out on your porch with an ice cold beverage and toss them some crab to munch on.

Cuttlefish? More like Comfyfish! I knew a girl who raised these back in HS, they would interact with you and a few even did "tricks" they knew would get them treats. (One such trick is that one of them knew how to perfectly mimic a flounder, would go flat and take on the same shape and color of a floundef, moving it's eyes to similar places too)

Downsides is a pretty sort lifespan and not actually being able to cuttle them (some will let you pet them though)

is this comfy?

The worms look like theyre made of candy, I don't know why it's not gobbling them down.

I had a snake for a bit and it just ate right out of my hand, liked to curl up on my underpants when we would chill out at night too. Snakes might be more comfy than lizards is what I'm saying.

I think just based on having no arms or legs snakes sort of feel more friendly, they wrap around and warm up on you which feels pleasant. I've only ever had a little checkered garter snake, but she (i know because she had 4 babby snakes after I found her in a park) was very nice and seemed to enjoy interacting with me.

Maybe smaller snakes are better in that regard. I also don't like the thought of being bitten, but I got over that by letting her reach out and tickle my nose with her tongue.

Are crocos comfy? I remember seeing a couple out walking a caiman when I was young in Vancouver. They had it on a small leash and brought it to the park, would let it swim a little in the pond. Seemed to want to go straight for the ducks but was held back by the leash.

I had a turtle for a long time and it was vaguely comfy. I was just always a bit sad watching it because I felt I should have given it a bigger tank or a nice pond. I'd often fill up the bathtub and it seemed to enjoy the extra space to swim around.
