So guys. I'm a classically trained sculptor (a pretty fucking good one too) and have been a /pol/ack for many years now. If someone hypothetically made a statue that somehow promoted /pol/ propaganda and placed it in various public places what should said statue be? Anyone have any good ideas?

A group of anonymous artists erected a 4-foot-tall bronze statue of Edward Snowden, the former U.S. spy agency contractor famous for leaking classified information, in a New York City park overnight, officials said on Monday.
The large molded bust of Snowden, depicted wearing a collared shirt and his signature glasses, was placed atop a stone pillar that is part of an existing monument at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn, photos posted to social media showed.
The name "Snowden" spelled out in bronze letters appeared to be attached to an adjacent shorter pedestal on top of which sits a bronze bald eagle spreading its wings, a statue that has long made its home in the park.
The idea for the statue was conceived by two New York guerilla artists who worked with a West Coast sculptor to create the finished piece, reported Animal New York, a local news and culture blog, which was invited to witness the late-night installation.
The artists, whose names were not disclosed, said they sympathized with Snowden, the former U.S. National Security Agency contractor who leaked details of massive U.S. intelligence-gathering programs and remains in hiding in Russia, and intended to pay tribute to him with the installation.
"Our goal is to bring a renewed vitality to the space and prompt even more visitors to ponder the sacrifices made for their freedoms," they said in a statement published by the blog.
"We hope this inspires them to reflect upon the responsibility we all bear to ensure our liberties exist long into the future," they said.
By late afternoon on Monday, park officials removed the illegal statue, which park workers had covered with a blue tarp. Park spokeswoman Maeri Ferguson said park officials were deciding what to do with it. Ferguson did not say whether park property had been damaged.
City police said they were investigating.

You could make one of that old german woman who was recently arrested after arguing against the holocaust on national TV
There's a thread stickied on >>>/pol/
I bet a german anon, or someone you select for deutche /pol/ could help you
She's an 89 year old woman who had her house raided because she publicly declaimed the narrative, this should be made into a huge issue - it's insane

While that whole incident in Germany is terrible, I'm not sure that's a good idea for what I'm talking about. We all know about it but I'm pretty sure if you built a monument to her the average person on the street would have no idea who she was and would just walk by without giving it a second thought. Also, that's just one isolated incident. We need something that is reusable. Even if it was just something basic like a statue of the happy merchant with some very damning Talmud quotes or something on it. Statues are very time consuming and expensive to make which is why we need something reusable. Once I make a mold of the original sculpture I can probably churn out at least a hundred copies. So we need to figure out something good that will remain relevant for a good while and that isn't just the incident of the week.
Please help me brainstorm here anons. I'll bet we can come up with something that'll really stir things up if we try.

And how many people would recognize snowden from a bust?
The point is that when the statue geta taken down by the authorities everyone will know who it was for - they'll reportit. The reason the snowden statue got famous is because it was rwmoved and reported on, let's do tue same here
This will bring the issue to loight quite effectively - all the better because it will bring to mind the other whistleblower snowden
A generically anti-semitic ststue would be repellent to everyone not already on our side and would infact play into the enemies hands
We want to draw attention to the fact that the homes of little old ladies are being raided, their books burned all because they dare question the official narrative

Hmm. It may be worth doing. However, I would argue that when Snowden leaked all of that information there was a big media frenzy about it so yeah more people would recognize him. I imagine this story about the German woman is likely to get swept under the rug and not widely reported on like Snowden was because it brings the Jews negative attention. Doing a quick google of the German woman brings up mostly white nationalist websites and conspiracy forum type stuff. I didn’t see a single mainstream news source reporting on it whereas everyone was reporting on Snowden. So whereas almost everyone has heard of Snowden I don’t think anyone outside of the White Nationalist community has probably heard of this woman or would pay it any attention. Remember, the Jews control the media. Even if someone puts up a statue of the German woman it’s unlikely the media would report on it because it makes the Jews look bad. If I thought they would definitely report on it then by all means I’d be up for it. It seems unlikely to me though. Any other anons want to weigh in on this idea?
I want to be clear that I’m not completely discounting the idea. But let’s really think things through here and throw around some more ideas as well before we make any definite decisions.

It's not been widely reported on, but a well done publicity stunt could change that
Afyer all, they let her on TV once before
As for other ideas…
I think that effective works would fall into two categories: Publicity stunts and support
The case of the german woman would fall under the first, that is, a work that piggybacked on some outrageor current trend to bring light to a particular issue
As for the second, have you considered simply making beautiful art and donating it to folk organizations, nationalists or other likeminded parties?
The good of this will be three fold: to increase your own ability and renown (I would very much like to see more artists with our sentiments in play, and also it can help to chamge the art scene), to spread beauty out into the world (I think beauty is the most important thing, it's what makes life worth living), and it would provide a morale boost to these organizations to see new comrades working for the cause - you would help to spur their efforts

Oh, also just FYI I'm currently saving pictures of her for reference if we decide for sure to go that route. If any anons have good pics of her from as many different angles as possible for reference purposes then post them here. I'm thinking if we do that then a large scale portrait may be the way to go. That would make shipping it to German anons much easier than doing a full figure and it wouldn't take as long to make.

Pergaps a stencil with the word 'Oma' under it (I'd heard the name used in the thread, I assume it's a nickname or a shortening of some kind)
Stencils make it easy for the message to be spread - send the template out to /pol/ and SF and othera could get involved
And, just rambling along in that vein, stencils could be useful in general - I've never seen a political stencil thewad in pol, but it would be very useful for street activism

Just got the first pull out. I ran out of latex (don't worry I ordered another 2 gallons the other day) so this pull is a little too thin. There was a slight issue with the resin I used for the mold and a few little spots warped (wont be using that brand again). This results in a few little extra bumps on the surface of the mask but thankfully they pretty much work into the design since I had already put on a few little frog warts and stuff. This pull obviously hasn't had the seam lines or anything cleaned up yet. Also because this first pull is a throwaway I just kinda quickly and jaggedly cut the eyeholes out. This is fresh out of the mold.

OP here.
That would actually be pretty damn funny. I'll consider that one.
<wall of text incoming>
Ok so I finally got my ass over to the hardware store and picked up some plywood for the base of the figure. What I want to do for the "paragon of a male specimen" is base the figure's build and facial appearance off of the Aryan figures sculpted by Arno Breker (pics related) but make the pose much more dynamic like a bernini figure.
Now, what I decided I want to do with the figure is have him punching out another figure that embodies all of the "degenerate" and "shitty impressionist or new age art styles" like that other anon said. I want it to just be one figure that's getting punched out because anything more would be too much for me considering I have basically no funds for this project.
This figure getting punched out should be made up of nothing but references to various degenerate art. So my question to you anons is what references would you like to see? Is there any notable degenerate art that really pisses you off? I was thinking the face at least could be a reference to Picasso's Les Desmoiselles D'Avignon where he made the faces look like shitty african masks. Everyone in art school loved to jerk off to that shitty painting. I'm definitely going to throw a Judy Chicago reference in there too.
Any ideas are welcome.

How about an individual that embodies all that we oppose? That being Marxism, SJWs, Feminism, Modernism, Consumerism, Jewish influence, etc.
You could have a little piece of all of that on the individual being punched to show our enemy as many scattered groups. While our embodiment would be wearing one style/fashion of clothing, with one symbol, and no branding outside of that.
That not only shows our will to fight all of them off, but our own unity, and their discord and division.

zero effort to inspire disgust in the viewer
you can emulate this stuff as faithfully as possible and hide behind claiming that it's all in the eye of the beholder and never ever intentional

**hear me out before you accuse me of jewing**
I'll probably price Pepes around $70(seriously hear me out here) which is super cheap for custom halloween masks. Go look at all the facebook horror collector groups if you think I'm making it up. They usually start at around $100 and go up from there (except for half-masks which are usually like $60 and up). I've cast up the first one and in the process of seaming it right now. Just one mask took half a gallon of slip-casting latex which is not cheap. On top of that, once I slowly snip off the seams and any tiny micro-bubbles (this takes a few hours) I have to fill in the tiny canal (where the seams used to be) with something that is in the industry called cabopatch. Cabopatch is a mixture of cabosil (a thickening agent that is basically powdered glass and will give you lung cancer super quick if you don't wear a respirator) and prosthetic adhesive (expensive as fug). On top of that I have to paint it with a mixture called pax paint which is half acrylic paint and half prosthetic adhesive (once again expensive as fug). At that price point I'm barely making any profit at all. If I lower it much more I'll be selling at a loss and I'm unemployed right now so it'd be better for me to not sell them at all if anons think that's too much.
Granted, if you anons do think that's too much then that's fine. I just can't afford to sell much lower or I'm losing the tiny bit of money I have. Sculpture isn't like digital painting. The material cost is extremely expensive.
Seriously, look this stuff up if you think I'm jewing for shekels. If I was about shekels I never would've gone into the art field. I would've gone into banking school or med school or something.
I sculpt because it's just about the only thing in this damn world I give a single fuck about. It's one of those stupid illogical passion things.

I did Pepe in water clay (specifically 105 white clay without grog). I usually use water clay for making masks because it's much faster to work with. The issue with water clay is that it'll dry on you and crack apart if you don't work fast enough and constantly spray it with water. Also when doing a mask you usually sculpt it on top of a headform like the link below.
http://www.monstermakers.com/product/deluxe-full-head-sculpting-armature-life-size.html
The reason it's sculpted on that is so you know that the mask will actually fit on a person's head when it's done. You also have to sculpt your masks a little over-sized because latex shrinks a certain amount when it dries.
Now for doing figures I usually like to use oil-based clays that won't dry out like water clay. The only time I would probably use water clay for a figure is if I'm doing a life-size figure (because that much oil clay would cost a fortune). I use different brands depending on the size of the figure. If it's like a 36" figure I usually prefer to use Chavant Le Beau Touche clay. It's soft enough to work pretty quick, but also hard enough to hold details well. I'm also a big fan of Monster Clay because it holds detail very well and can be melted down over and over without going bad nearly as quickly as other oil clays. It is slower to work with though because it is a much harder clay. Now if you're working very very small then you need more of a hard wax like they use in the toy industry. Something like Castilene. Also you need a dental waxer to work with that stuff because it's so ridiculously hard you have to have heated tools to move it around.

So the issue water clay vs oil clay, beside hardness of the specific clay, is most of all a matter of price then, and skills at working it?
I just realized I should have used latex lacking a tixotropic resin to fill a mask mold, not a regular resin. Fuck my retarded brain.
Some extra questions that you might be able to answer: as I generally like resins for some on my projects, is there a way to sand epoxidic resin smooth and glossy, or will it always look like garbage and I'm better off sanding a plaster positive first with fine sanding paper and then make another mold? Is alginate a good alternative for a one time mold to save money compared to silicone?
Metals: I have a methane bunsen burner. Is this viable: pour wax into mold, demold, make a plaster mold around wax, slowly heat up until wax melts away and plaster dries for higher temperatures, melt silver or bronze on burner, pour in mold? Or will the mold inevitably crack and I should get some different materials? I don't have a kiln, so, stupid question incoming: can I use candlewax?

I don't work much with any sort of epoxy resins (I much prefer urethane resins/plastics). However I imagine the thing to do is sand it down until you have it smooth to a 500 grit sandpaper smoothness (obviously depending on how rough the piece starts out you may have to work your way from lower grit to 500 grit). After 500 grit dry then wetsand it with either 500 or 600 grit. After wetsanding try buffing/polishing it with polishing wax. That's my best bet. I know that technique works great for dental acrylics and most things in general. You could also try spraying some primer on it, sanding it down to 500 grit and then spraying some automotive clearcoat on it for a high gloss finish. This is definitely something where you want to experiment with test samples of the material before you start mutilating your piece. If you're going to produce multiples and you don't want to do a shitload of sanding every time then yes it may be better to bodyshop the first one really good and take a new mold off that.
As far as alginate for temporary molds is concerned, yes it will work for certain materials. You have to do it before the shit dries out though (and some brands dry out fast). Just make sure that the material you're casting in isn't going to get fucked up by the moisture in the alginate. Some will and some wont. Once again, do a test sample first to be on the safe side. Also I don't recommend using it for anything too complicated. Wet alginate frequently tears very easy and will be a pain to work fast with if you're casting anything too complicated.
Now for metals, I've worked in a few art foundries but I only really know the basics for metals. I don't know the melting point for different metals but for most I'm pretty sure you need at least a small crucible or something. I could be wrong. You may want to talk to some Jewelry-smiths. They would have a better idea about that subject. Also I seriously doubt plaster is going to withstand the heat of molten metal. What they do in the foundries is lost-wax method with what's called a ceramic-shell. I recommend doing some googling or buy some books on foundry processes. Also candlewax may or may not work because candles are made out of a variety of different waxes (also most storebought candles are full of fillers and shit to make production of them cheaper). If you're trying to do lost-wax method then I suggest buying an actual casting-wax that's meant for it.

Can you reproduce the classical form? I know many trained sculptors who think sculpting is simply copying reality. No one does, if indeed they even sculpt, the classical body type, the classical face, etc. No one does idealized forms, forms which are traditionally European. They copy. This is the same in painting, as in sculpture, and it is sad.

If you are not already set on an idea, you could sculpt at thing related to Antigone. Antigone stands for the supremacy of spiritual and traditional power over the human and temporal. You could, for instance, do Haimon stabbing himself. You could do Antigone being released from her noose. You could have Antigone bury her brother. There are good symbols for our meaning. They might be missed by the average person.

I'm actually very fond of doing idealized forms rather than just copying. It's true that most people (especially painters) rely almost completely on copying nowadays (this is because classical training has almost become a lost art). A lot of them literally trace photographs which is a total joke. I'm actually very knowledgeable on human anatomy and the structure of the body. I don't need to copy.
All that being said, Michaelangelo's David is an overrated sack of shit. The hands and the head are completely out of proportion with the rest of the body and it's very jarring.

OP again. I'm still alive believe it or not. Had some stuff going on so I've been preoccupied. Pepe #3 came out with a few air bubbles in the eyelids. I should be able to fill those in with some cabopatch though. I had some issues with Pepe #1 because of the PAX paint. It's been several years since I've worked with latex so I'm having to relearn it all. I forgot how much I hate PAX paint. The problem is it's super sticky before you seal it with something (because prosthetic adhesive). Everything in the fucking world sticks to it. It's troublesome and expensive. I'm switching to rubber-cement paint because of that. The painting process is much more toxic but should be a lot less trouble (and less expensive). Also working out some new ways for seaming so things should go quicker now hopefully. My art buddy agreed to put the masks up on his etsy, so I should have the first few up soon.
I havn't gotten too far on the propaganda piece yet. I have the armature and cut the wood for the base now. Just gotta clear out some space in my work room and start throwing clay on it. OP for the zillionth time. Almost got yet another pepe out of the mold (should be out today). After I get this one out I'm going to focus on getting them all seamed and painted before I cast more.
Also I cleaned out my work room and started blocking out the male figure for the propaganda piece. I want to get it a little farther along before I post pics of it. It's really rough right now.
Also I realized that if the propaganda piece turns out good it may be possible to do it lifesize if we set up a kickstarter or something. For like $3-6k depending on the figure you can get a sculpture digitally scanned and enlarged by a CNC machine. I could then do the final finish on the large one and take a mold off that. The only issue then would be finding a home for it after it's finished. It may not be feasible to do this, but I'm just throwing the idea out there to see what you anons think.

For Moon Man you'll want a more solid mask. I was thinking, instead of sculpting, come up with two designs for Moon Man. A mask (like Guy Fawkes) and a full headpiece. Put the designs into 3d models and translate them into STL files. These files could then be 3d printed, depending on depth and features, with little support material. ABS plastic is naturally an opaque white, and can be smoothed with acetone. it costs <$30 per kilogram if you buy it, and less if you make it. A face mask wouldn't be hard at all to print, but for a full headpiece you might need to break it down into several pieces to fit with a printer.
Sculptor-chan could make the model by making a master, then scanning it with a 3d scanner.
I'd be willing to print them, and smooth them out, material wouldn't cost too much, but print time would drive up the cost significantly.
I wouldn't suggest it for Pepe, since it has a neck, while Moon Man shouldn't.
What could also be done, is any statuettes you want can be sculpted by sculptor-chan, scanned, and then printed. If you want a statuette in bronze or something, you can use a PLA statuette to make a lost casting mold.
Just spitballing ideas here guys. I wanted to help out with /ironman/ originally but the board died.

I've looked at some cheap diy 3d scanners, and I'm not sure if you could get anything bigger than a face mask in one pass. that would mean cutting the mask into pieces and scanning each, which is probably more trouble than its worth, now that I'm looking at it. The statuettes would still be an option.
Anyone interested in making a 3d scanner, there's several different diy models, here's a really cheap one: http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-30-laser/
If any of you want to put the time into making a scanner, and then commissioning a statuette from sculptor-chan to scan for 3d printing, I'm willing to print out the printed parts for free, I just need you to pay for shipping.
Another means of making a Moon Man mask is to make a 3d model of it right in the computer. I know that classical sculpting is your thing sculptor-chan, but if anyone knows anyone who is good at 3d modeling, it could be a separate means of getting Moon Man on the scene.

You've said a few times that you're still not sure what to do about the figure he's punching out, have you entertained the notion of a composite figure? Other anons >>2373 have identified some detestable things about modern art, and offered suggestions. I've attached a few pieces that lack the dignity of classical sculpture.
Perhaps, the opposed figure could be composed of heterogenous materials (lego, paper mache, rebar, etc) and the homogenous figure (our hero) could be striking the opposed figure at its joints, where one material meets another, fracturing it and severing it.
The opposed figure could have, say, a severed lego forearm, lying on the ground, and the homogenous figure could be punching the opposed figure at the shoulder, where acrylic and packing tape meet, and dislocating/severing it.
And if you decide to roll with this idea, please make his abdomen a reference to Duchamp's fountain. I've always detested that charade.
No.3273
>>3239
I appreciate the ideas anon. More anons need to be throwing ideas out there like you are. Mind you, I wouldn't consider the pieces you posted necessarily degenerate. Just because a piece of art isn't a classical academic figure doesn't mean it's inherently degenerate. Lego guy is actually kinda neat IMO.
The problem is, modern/postmodern art gave people an excuse to make absolute degeneracy as kind of a cynical cashgrab (and also just because TPTB are actively trying to promote degeneracy through the arts). Duchamp's readymades were in large done as a joke and a mockery of what art had become in a lot of ways. I don't think even Duchamp expected them to be taken seriously, but the art establishment (jews) took it and ran with it. Art was already going down hill but after his stupid urinal things really went downhill.
Now we literally have people squirting paint out of their assholes onto a canvas and giving large gobbeldygook explanations on why it's deep and meaningful.
Even abstract art isn't necessarily degenerate in and of itself. There are actually many examples of beautiful abstract art. However, it became an excuse to promote degenerate and ugly art.
I've been doing some rough sketches trying to come up with ideas for the second figure. I think I want the torso to be a reference to Judy Chicago's "Dinner Party" (feminist vagina art). One leg I want to be a reference to Mondrian paintings. The other leg I want to be a reference to Giacometti's shitty sculptures but have Duchamp's urinal as the foot. The head I want to be one of the African masks from Picasso's shitty "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon". So then I need two more degenerates to reference for the arms.
I know a lot of anons will disagree with me, but not all art should necessarily be classical academic figures. Granted, that should in my opinion be the standard by which art is judged and should be what is taught in the academies.
Also, is that second picture a Will Kurtz piece? I know that guy personally and I fucking hate his work.

You need 5-8 finished sculptures, all a little bit different, so people can argue which they like best.
Sell documentation along the way, and give us pictures, so those with no money can add value to the project by spreading the news of the classical sculptor that will go down in art history.

Sounds great, but I don't know what an ARG is.
You need small statues as well, so people can buy the whole batch, even the ones that so tragically got destroyed.
You also need to think about relocating to somewhere it is fitting for a legendary artist to have his workshop, since you'll need space for students and mistresses and all that shit, and later it will become some form of museum.
Some of us need to become legendary in the fight against the cucks, so it might as well be you?

OP again. I'm starting to think I'm going about this the wrong way. It's going to be too slow and expensive to spread this stuff mainly through traditional means. Most anons probably don't have the money to buy castings (you NEET motherfuckers) and I can't give out castings for free because they're expensive as fuck to make and I'm poor as shit. I'm not going to be able to do this anytime soon (because no monies) but I think at some point I'm going to invest in a 3d laser scanner. That way I can do a statue, scan it in and make it a 3d file and just let anons download the file. Even if none of you anons have/can afford a 3d printer, most cities have places that will 3d print a file for you for a fee (much cheaper than actually buying a 3d printer I'm sure). I won't be able to buy a scanner until I either sell some stuff or become employeed though so that's not an option currently. Maybe by the time I have the piece finished I'll be able to afford a scanner (probably not though because it's hard as fuck to find a job right now).

I'm actually considering relocating to Pittsburgh as it's affordable to live there and has a good art community (i.e. jobs for my skillset). I also have a lot of art connections around Pittsburgh.
I did live in NYC for 2.5 years and worked for some really big name artists there, but it's so expensive to live there you can only really ever break even at best. Also, unless you suck a lot of jewish dick (literally) you're never going to get your work seen in NYC. The jews got that art scene on lockdown. The best you can hope for there without becoming a glorified prostitute is working for some famous jewish artist making their work for them and getting paid a wage you can barely survive on. Are you telling me gypsum casted in rubber forms are expensive?
Paintings are for rich people, so many artists do prints for the masses. It's the same for statues, but you don't have the tradition to sell cheap versions of your work, as far I have seen. A 6-8 inch gypsum statue from a rubber cast, can be made for a few dollars, and sold for say 30-50 $.
Why do it yourself, there are million burgers that cast everything from dildos to concrete sinks and counter tops, that are desperate for work that will sell.
License your statue to these people, as they already have websites and visa cards, so we anons can buy them as yule-gifts for friends.

Can't become a legendary artist if you have not suffered for your art, so I'm glad that is done.
This means we are free to concentrate on you living the good life and wasting money, once we have secured you a steady income, as legendary artists need to do that as well.

>moldmaking rubber
>a few dollars
Yeah no. Try $110 for a single gallon plus $15-$20 for shipping since you can't buy it locally. You're also not taking the polyester resin ($40 per gallon here) and fiberglass mat ($7-$12 per package) you need for the mother mold into account. Also it's almost impossible to find gypsums where I live. If you want gypsum you have to get it shipped in which costs you more on shipping than the gypsum itself costs because it weighs a ton. So it's more economical to go with urethane plastics for casting which is $85 for a gallon kit plus another $15-$20 shipping fee.
>Paintings are for rich people
Wrong again anon. Paintings are extremely cheap to produce compared to sculpture. Pretty much anyone can afford to buy original paintings depending on the artist they're buying from. There are plenty of great painters selling original work on the cheap.
Don't you anons tell me you know how much this stuff costs better than I do. I've been doing this shit for years and years. It's far more expensive than you think. If you think I'm making shit up to jew for shekels then I can link you to the materials for sale and add up all the material/shipping costs so you anons can see just how much it costs to produce this stuff.
>Why do it yourself, there are million burgers that cast everything from dildos to concrete sinks and counter tops, that are desperate for work that will sell.
Yes, and they have to make a profit just like I do if they want to survive. So I would have to pay more to have someone else do it than just doing it myself. Also even if it was cheaper (and it isn't at all) hiring other people to cast your work almost always backfires (trust me I've done it before) because they inevitably screw it up because it's not their sculpture so they don't give a fuck.
Sorry anon, but I think you some unrealistic expectations of how cheap/simple it is to produce traditional sculpture. That's why I'm saying I think 3d scanning/printing is the only viable option to spread this stuff affordably.

If I can add a small bit of criticism to this, the hero's upper body isn't twisted enough; his punch look like it has absolutely no weight to it right now.
Also, were you going to have him punching up or punching down? The former would be way more accepted by the general populace as they latch on more tightly to the idea of 'fighting the power' (ie; punching up) than 'opressing the weak' (punching down)
also, something feels really off about the guy's neck. I think you might have overextended it.

4.5 liter = 45 small statues . if the density is to, that comes out at 200 grams per statue. if total cost is 180$, that is 4 dollars pro piece.
I'm no artist, and I never suggested you do this yourself.
People make a living casting dildos that sell for 20$, so why can't they cast statues for you, for a split in the profits?
Only thing you would need to do, is find somebody you trust, and give him the small statue. He then does the rest, making the mold, casting, shipping and payments.
Casting dildos is a craft, and selling shit has never been something artists are good at. I'm sure you can learn it, but it takes a year.
If you google somebody that cast small shit for a living in your area, I'm 100% certain you'll find somebody that will make and sell them, and then BMW can do the marketing.

Also since dildos are a flexible material themselves, you don't have to use casting rubber to make the molds. You can just use a rigid plaster or resin mold. That's why they're much cheaper to cast.
If your finished product is going to be out of a rigid material then you need to use mold rubber. If the finished product is out of a flexible material then you don't need to use mold rubber.
Also why the fuck would I hire somebody else to mold my shit when I myself am a professional moldmaker?

I double-checked about the neck length after you mentioned it before. The vertical proportions are correct. It's probably an issue with the width. If the width of a limb or whatever isn't right then it will make it appear too long. It also may be an issue with my shitty cellphone camera fisheyeing the photo making the top look a little bigger than it is. When I get it farther along I'll photograph it with my good camera and lighting setup.

I had a conversation with the BO about the pose earlier actually. I'm basing the stance more on a martial-arts punch. However, usually in a martial-arts punch you would punch with the same side you're stepping with. The reason I made him punch with the alternate side is because it appears more dynamic from a sculptural standpoint. If you want something to look dynamic it's good to have the ribcage and the pelvis twisting away from each other to some degree. You wouldn't do it in an actual fight, but it works better in a sculpture IMO. Also he's in a front stance. If he pointed his right foot (the back one) inward instead of outward he would lose balance and fall.

I usually do 7.5 heads but I made the armature for this one to 8 head scale for that reason. More idealized.
I looked at the head/neck again and measured it. It seems to match up with the rest of it according to the measurements, but since you're not the first person that said that I'll try shortening the neck and shaving a bit off the head and see how it looks.
The arms definitely need more volume I think. The measurements are correct length-wise but it's probably looking elongated because the volume isn't enough yet.
I do disagree about the thigh volume and the placement of the glutes on your edit. I think increasing the thigh volume much more is gonna make him look a lot shorter. Also where you have the glutes makes it seem like he must have an unnaturally tiny pelvis.
Seriously though, I do appreciate your take on it. I do have a tendency to make figures a bit slender which I'm having to fight on this project. I'll mess around with the volume some more and post a pic and you guys can all give me some more feedback.

I've been messing around with the pose some and I added more twist between the torso/ribcage and changed the punch to more of a hook punch to try and sell the movement a bit more. The legs don't really match up with my changes though and it's a pain to move them around a lot on such a large sculpture. So, I'm going to make a little rough maquette and fuck around with the pose until I get something that works better and then I'll alter the actual sculpture based on that. I'm sure anons will still complain that it's too static, but don't forget that the second figure's reaction to the punch is also going to help sell the movement.
