>Finnish word for griffon is Aarnikotka
>Kotka being eagle.
It looks to me like the metal casters*, aka the goths, used salamanders, griffins firebirds etc, on their coat of arms, as folk knowledge said that they were born of fire, since the newts hid in the firewood that was used in huge quantities, and seemed to escape unscathed, when their hiding place got too hot.
* The verb is gone from English, unless it has become the word get, but what they produced, are still called goods.
If Finns have problems separating the phonemes G and K, Kotka could be related the the goths as well. The island Kotka, was owned by the now extinct Griff-family and the Gothic cloister Vadstena.
>Swedish crusades conquer Finland
>they kill shamans and destroy writings and wisdoms
And your priests before the Northern crusades, were called Pappi, and were Christians of the heretical variety?
If it is any comfort the Swedes burnt everything they had themselves as well, including the churches.
This bird is called Dom-pap = cathedral pope in Nordic, a word that also mean arch stupidity, and i kind of suspect that the Finnish name tells a story also?
Words for stealing, are also interesting, as you should expect stealers to steal goods, but in English and German it is the robbers like Robin Hood, while the Nordics made the collectors of the tithe, to the ones that stole for a living.
