 No.4236

It's come to my attention that if the BMW wishes to become a true force to be reckoned with then it needs to not only work on creating memes and spreading their reach, but also on defusing enemy memes.

For example a meme that is harmful to the collective ego of the side we fight for should be countered, thwarted, etc.

The other posters on this board are far smarter than me so I was wondering if any of you had any ideas on how to thwart rising memes, or how to achieve something in a similar vein.

 No.4238

>>4236

Giving it the Ben "One man klan" Garrison treatement.

Just splatter jew faces on it and impersonate the creator saying you're a huge racist and hate minorities.

 No.4239

>>4238

You have at least 2 options, first is as the previous poster says, discredit. This works best when the original meme is attributed to a named individual with a reputation they wish to preserve. The revised meme may be even more popular than the original, and therefore the original author is discredited and discouraged from further memeing, in order to avoid reputational damage.

Secondly, you may try to inform the viewer with counter memes and facts. This is difficult, it may be as difficult as trying to change that persons worldview. It is better if you can get to the viewer first and prime them with an inoculation against any such memes they may encounter.

 No.4242

>>4239

You can go even more meta by impersonating people who would be shocked at the defaced meme. That would flip the entire narrative.

 No.4244

>>4242

This. You need to control every aspect of opposition, including false positives.

 No.4245

Would it not be somewhat better (and as an added bonus more entertaining) to simply satirize or create flat out parodies? These are very powerful artistic and political tools - that appear to have been a part of human culture for as long as we have records for.

If you need an example of what that would look like, consider the #endfathersday farce. A few members of old /pol/ get annoyed at how far feminist insanity has gone, and spread an idea that stays within even the narrowest interpretation of Poes law and makes a big splash with the normies before anyone queries the origin of the meme.

 No.4247

The best strategy is also the most common: Find the flaw in their logic and then make fun of them by exploiting that flaw

IIRC BMW have recommended exploiting Poe's law for what it is worth?

 No.4265

>>4260

What are you trying to accomplish with those memes?

 No.4266

>>4265

They are examples of OP's idea?

 No.4273

>>4266

I see what you're getting at with the first one, mock the idea and defuse it by taking away the sacredness/serious air surrounding it - nice

The Chris Kyle one threw me off and I don't know what the second at last one means (going from left to right)

>The Chris Kyle one threw me off and I don't know what the second at last one means (going from left to right)

The second is the wrong image, as it is the real Auschwitz gate, IIRC. I thought it said something funny, but got the wrong one.

The last is a hijack from the neo-pagans, as they need to be uncucked along with the christcucks.

Not BMW, but I like God Emperor Trump.

It's more that so many come here with an idea, and since everybody have their own ideas they like to see come real, they get disappointed from the lack of response.

The moral is, If you want something done, do it yourself.

 No.4289

A method of dismantling of any and all memes is not something we should investigate, for if we find a formula all of our own works are imperiled.

If you found a way to selectively post-modernize any idea, you split the memetic atom, you bit the golden apple. We don't need a second fall from the tower of babel.

 No.4290

>>4289

In order for such a thing as you describe to exist, it would require that truth itself did not exist

This is just discussing various tactics for dismantling various types of memes - either by use of reason of emotional appeal

 No.4291

We have to keep him on target lest he turns out to have been Horus

 No.4292

>>4289

Though I do appreciate your point, and perhaps I shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the idea - it doesn't matter if such a meme were true if it could be made to appear true

 No.4298

Enemy memes, especially in early stages of life, can be rather easily co-opted into your own arsenal by subverting the intent and meaning of the meme, turning it on its head.

>We have to keep him on target lest he turns out to have been Horus

Keep who on target and why?

 No.4311

>>4236

Well I think we can all agree that the enemies tactics dont work very well. Silencing a meme only makes it spread faster. I suggest subverting enemy memes, much like what /pol/ does with shills. The reason they all stink at shilling is because of the high turnover rate. To shill against us effectively you must understand us, but when you understand us you become one of us.

Subverting a meme to change it for our purposes should be simple enough.

>>4300

The emperor of course.

Trump, for the sake of life and Beauty

Truth based memes cannot be dismantled.

Don't worry. Dialectic materialists can't into mememagicks.

What effect does this meme have?

Pepe diffuses the horror of slenderman

Slenderman alone was an exceptionally powerful meme that spawned a cult and multiple homocides

 No.4427

Studying slenderman would yield a wealth of information on meme spread and memetically motivating individuals

 No.4429

>Studying slenderman would yield a wealth of information on meme spread and memetically motivating individuals

Give us links then, since I don't believe you.

 No.4433

>>4429

Do try to not be rude

Look up the slender man killings, as to the rest you would have had to have been there when the slender man meme was at its height - it spawned a cult that started ironically then became legitimately followed by a number of tweens

Ecyclopedia dramatica and kbiw your meme will help - there are also whole sites devoted to it

 No.4474

>>4236

I believe the best way to counter it is by ignoring it. If you give it attention, it will only grow stronger.

>>4238

Or you could do the old Ben Garrison. I still think ignoring it and focusing on our own meme are the best approach though.

The leftists are terrible at making memes, they all seem overly forced. Just look at the "freeze peach" one they tried to force, it didn't go anywhere because it wasn't organic, and the leftists don't possess the will to power a meme.

 No.4479

>>4474

If their meme works then it needs to be taken care of, otherwise yes, ignoring it is simply the best.

 No.5429

>>4236

Meme for proposed defusal:

> "“When we hear a candidate for president call for rounding up 12 million immigrants, banning all Muslims from entering the U.S., when he embraces torture, that doesn’t make him strong, it makes him wrong,” she told the fired-up crowd in Florida."

"that doesn't make him strong, it makes him wrong."

This strikes me as a carefully crafted meme. It deliberately references Trump's "strength/strong" meme, and connects it with the word "wrong". Forced association through rhyming. How can you defuse this sort of meme?

 No.5443

>>5429

A good counter for hillary is to point out that when it comes to foraign policy she is basically a neocon - she was instrumental to destroying lbya (which had the highest standard of living in Africa) in order to protect the petrodollar system (Ghaddafi was going to start selling oil for non US denominations as well as using his 170+ tonne gold reserve to start a gold backed dinar; the reserve has since gone missing)

 No.5448

>>5443

How do we condense that sort of refutation into a meme that can compete with hers?

I figure the problem with defusing a meme is that the meme will spread faster than your refutation, unless the refutation is in the form of an equally virulent meme.

 No.5461

>>5448

Dunno, Hillary the neo-con

Hillary the neo-imperialist

Hillary the colonizer

"Destroying african countries to benefit the west"

Something like that
