This is a better strategy. There's a good small-scale example of overuse and its effects: chan buzzwords. They start off as words that describe a specific thing they don't like: hipster, edgy, etc. Each buzzword has its own distinctive meaning. But over time, these words get used more and more, and their meanings broaden and dilute until they go from "specific thing I don't like" to "anything I don't like".

Now a buzzword is believed to lose its meaning naturally, as dumber people get ahold of it and wear it out faster. But it's very possible that some of those buzzwords have been intentionally forced into overuse, in order to discredit them. I can see a few methods for how this could be done.

The more ridiculous a word is, the easier it is to discredit it. Look at the term SJW, it's already kind of ridiculous (acronym, uses the letter W, also long to pronounce). Tumblr shitposters like to make fun of it all the time. Going to the other side's camp, you could probably take something like mansplaining or brogrammer and wear it out real quick. That'll give you the experience you'll need to start forcing less-ridiculous words into overuse.

The only problem is that this takes a large amount of people. You need lots of people disguising themselves as your enemy and abusing this word in order to be effective. If it's just a few users, other people will just say "oh, they're just crazy/radicals/trolls, don't listen to them, they don't know what that word means."
