Hey /cats/, let's get some discussion going! What's your favorite breed of cat and why?

I'll start. Though I've never owned one, I love ragdoll cats. I'll always dream of one day adopting the perfect seal bicolor ragdoll.

Other breeds I'm fond of are snowshoe and bengals.

I had a maine coon when I was a kid. Fucking loved that cat so much. Sadly I moved to a different country and she ran away. One of the saddest days of my life.

Aw man, I'm really sorry for your loss. Even if it may have been a long time ago. A cat of mine ran away recently too, had me depressed for a long while. He wasn't a special breed or anything, just a plain ol' lanky tuxedo cat.

Thanks. It really sucks when that sort of shit happen. Sadly living in a shitty one room apartment I can't even have a cat now. At least I have this board.

I have a British Bombay. She is easily the nicest, most easy going cat I've ever met

 No.172

Maine Coon/Siberian/Norwegian Forest are my 3 favorites

 No.191

I like sleek, thin breeds like oriental ones, never owned one though so I can't say anything for their temperament.

calico mostly just because they never run out of energy . a really common barn cat around here.

 No.445

had a runaway norwegian forrest cat. As we later found out,
appereantly the owner was a breeder, and the runaway was one of the breeding males that had gotten old enough that to no longer be needed, so they simply didnt care once that one had ran away. Neighbours of ours had picked him up, after finding him just at the end of winter, living in a drain pipe. Was a kinda cool cat, didnt realy give a fuck about anything, seeing as we usually had to get out of the car and move the cat out of the driveway, cause an approaching car was appeareantly no reason to move. He even got another litter going….AFTER castration…fucker used his last load for that. Sadly, he died of FIP about a year ago.

I'm partial to Maine Coons and Bombays/black cats. Both have their wonderful friendly charm.

 No.563

I had two siamese cats but I would prefer something thicker and fluffier.

 No.566

both my cats have been mutts, but ive always liked Siamese, Sphynx, and japanese bobtail cats.

I had a nebelung cat. If you love big personality and don't mind a TONNE of grooming he was an awesome, large cat. Lived until 21.

The friendliest cat I've ever known was a Bombay cat I used to cat sit for my neighbour. She had liver issues and just passed away, going to miss her.

Korat.
My current cat is one and she's awesome.

Does anyone know if the texture of a cats fur is affected by the breed? If I want a really soft silky cat what breed would you recomend?
What are some super lazy breeds that love to cuddle?

Best cat breed is Scottish Fold. Such the cutest, curious and rambunctious type of cat.

2nd best is Russian Blue, elegant, shy, intelligent and slender.

Probably Birman. May or may not have something to do with the fact that my faithful companion of 12 years is a Birman cat.

Pic related, it's her.

What cats meow the most/loudest? When I was little I had a cat who ran his mouth nonstop, he annoyed my parents but I love the sound of meows.

I've heard Siamese cats are incredibly social, are there any others which are relatively easy to obtain and care for with prominent meows?

my negros. Pic related, it's my maine coon. We also have his sister but she's a stuck up bitch whereas he's a massive attention whore and will do anything to get a scratch on the head.

I think you should get a not cat if you're into that kind of thing

How come people want to own some special cat breed?

I'm sorry but I simply can't understand why to choose by asthetics?

I have three cats, no special breed and I don't see any difference.
You'd love your cat because it's family and not because it's some special dekoration, don't you?

 No.649

I like Siamese cats. And Ragdoll cats. And Sphynx cats. And Scottish Fold cats.

Random street cats are my favourite though.

 No.652

Any kitty. But ragdolls are so cute.

Same for not cats in my case, my favorite breed of not cat corgi but I have a chihuahua.
Both are adopted.

First time posting here. I didn't know that man's best friend is wordfiltered.

Not every cat that's not a mix is some purebred show animal bought specifically for their breed. Two of my cats are purebred, but they were still rescues. The other one's a generic mixed tabby, and she was a rescue too. I talk about the breed of the purebreds because I know that's what they are.

 No.722

Scottish folds are very very cute. I adopted my cat from the humane society and they had no idea what breed they are. I do not know, either. I love them very much, though.

My cats look like waffles the cat except their eard are not folded

I like the hairless ones, but the idea of owning one always kind of turned me off because of how naked they are. It's already awkward enough when your cat comes up and sticks his butt in your face, and multiplying that with having to fur to cover anything up is 2weird4me.
