No.8082[Last 50 Posts]
Okay, so for those that weren't in the dance thread. I proposed an idea that I think could be great. It'll need a fair bit of work and some fine tuning though.
Essentially, it's a series of threads dedicated to /ccrp/ as a town, a place with living, breathing, working people. Everyone would have a profession, a house and the like. Hopefully with some work, a town map can get made. Someone suggested incorporating roles. At first it didn't seem plausible to do, but I've created a Citizen Sheet with various skills (none of which are final). Essentially if bad things happen to the town, or people need help with something, these skills act as a modifier to those actions.
The town will largely be an RP existence and the threads will not host ERP in them. Still this way, if you've ever wanted to have your character go to a cafe and chat with others, or go to the library and hit on the librarian or use your desk-job skills to fight aliens, then this is what CCRPVille should hopefully accommodate.
This thread is for ideas, suggestions, you name it. I hope we can have this rolled out in the next couple of days if we're lucky.
No.8084
I should also mention that there will need to be a little bit of work going into this. At the very least, a town map needs to get made (I can produce a basic one, but if anyone feels as though they have the skills, it's all theirs).
More than anything though, it's important that people would actually like this to be a thing. I know there's already been some interest in it, but even if you don't have suggestions, it would still be good to know if you're interested.

Shit, I totally forgot to say!
My idea was that after a character completes a certain event, they receive a trait, which is a semi-permanent buff/debuff or just a silly characteristic (I.e: cries in the presence of butterflies).
Since no characters are able to be killed, and you can't exactly be rewarded in money or the like the traits exist to reward success and make something funny and memorable about failure.

Another thing. The Jack Of All Trades skill adds +1 to any skill role per point. But a point into a specialized field is worth +5.

Income level is based on your job. This is just a number, and dictates what sort of housing you can live in and the like.

4 points in artistry assuming that books and culture go in this
3 points in computing as the library has a database which has to be organized
2 in management for how well the library is run? I don't know what management really entails
1 point in science because the character is somewhat curious about this subject.
How's that? I also used a freestyle script as the font to show a bit more of the character's personality. If you can't tell what it says I'll just try another front.

Not so much disapproval as I don't even know how to make sense of it. We can ignore city planning if it's casual enough but the perspective with which you've drawn the buildings won't make sense in reality. Like, the left bottom building takes up horizontal space because it's vertically tall. I'm assuming it's an apartment block.
No.8171
>>8165
Sure thing, I'll get on that straight after dinner. (Problem is, we're not entirely sure on the encounters characters will face yet either)
>>8168
I'm pretty sure it's just straight up useless. Unless we buffed the amount it gave delicately, it would only serve to sucker people of their hard earned skill points. Kinda reluctant to straight up remove it, but I will if we can't fix it.
>>8169
Yeah, I was rushing it quite a bit and noticed that. One can assume that the buildings that take up vertical space aren't infringing to the same degree on the horizontal plane. Still, all I wanted was some vague layout to build upon. I tried doing some proper perspectives (and keeping them consistent), but it was taking me far too long for what it was. Either way, it needs A LOT of work, I just wanted to throw something into the mix for now.

Now there's a material that just looks phenomenal all the time. Metal requires a lot of surface finish to look any sorts of good, and wire is so tricky. Originally I assumed Annon would be made mayor by rights due to her role on /ccrp/ but after later thought I realized that was totally stupid thinking.
Once we get going, all those that wish to me mayor will put themselves forward and everyone can vote on it. As it stands, I believe you're the only candidate so far. I have no interest in it myself, but everyone is free to put themselves forward. We'll hold the elections at a later date.
As for skills, everyone can redistribute skills as they please until everything is worked out and balanced. Sorry if I'm simply stating things you already knew, but this is more for the benefit of those that don't know about the position of mayor
Today I should have a proper map set up, though since I only have my laptop, I might just draw it by hand. Might be a little ambitious given how tired I am
IMPORTANT! I'd like to work out how incomes are decided. Perhaps that's something the mayor can set as they see fit. As of now, it should only dictate the accommodation individuals are permitted to live in.
No.10932
Well, I threw that together quickly enough. A thing that struck me is that this could use a reference as to what a person with any given skill level could do. You've described each skill admirably but, well. Maybe I'm just stupid.
I mean something like this:
0 points in management: "Don't look at me pal I just got here"
1 point in management: You've realized that if you put some weight behind your words people occasionally listen to you.
2 points in management: You know how to give orders and people actually look to you for guidance at times.
3 points in management: You're next in line to be store manager. You know how to work a spreadsheet and what a pie chart is actually supposed to be used for. You can make a flowchart that others understand. You're not the best, but dammit when you tell someone to do something they usually do it.
This is probably a huge ass load of work though so I understand if you don't feel like it.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I think you have good intentions and would certainly be a fit candidate.
For the first mayor, it should definitely be an election, but a coup would be an interesting mechanic. I'll give it some thought as to its implementation.
At the very least, it would make for a fun event to overthrow the current governing body, and everyone would have to band together to form a rebellious movement

The Mayor is in charge of passing legislation as well as starting town initiatives. The Mayor will need a secretary who will sort through complaints, but the mayor will be the one to try to affect changes. If people are complaining about crime, the mayor may choose to build new police-stations, increase the penalties for crime, employ more police, etc.
Mostly, the Mayor's job is to ensure the happiness of CCRPV's citizens. As such, they have good deal of power.
They may make changes to the 'income level' stat, they must approve the building of new properties (Although I will likely dictate what the actual requirements are). They also allow the approval of new citizens, and may indict other citizens. They are also in charge of creating and managing Town events. Irrespective, they might have to communicate a good deal with me~
As for people announcing their candidacy, I'll let you know when we hold the elections (SOON).
TL;DR Keep citizens happy and respond to the problems they have. Citizens with questions/problems can message the Mayor's secretary anonymously or named with the 'subject' field as whatever they prefer~ I.E: "Problems", "A request", etc.
