No.2809
Hello my brothers and sisters.
Lets keep the ball rolling
Revelation 20:4
>Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years

Every one of those claims to be the one true church, so that's 6 big ones, though the FLDS is split up in like 7 different splinter groups and the CoC is 3 Churches I think.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Brigham Young, in this graph) is the big one though, and if you don't live in Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania or Utah, chances are you've never even come across a member of the other ones.

This is true because they put it on an Assassins Creed DLC even. For real though, it may have been that way, but we also know Da Vinci was voluntarily celibate for long periods of time. God only knows what was in his heart, and I do believe there is an agenda out there to try and "homosexualize" great historical figures. Pic related.
>>4076
Eh, not really. All of them are small splinter groups. The ones who split of early have become essentially indistinguishable from your mainline lame protestant except for the BoM (and even some stuff within it they set aside). The Fundamentalist are interesting, but their… "extra peculiar" ways keep them from becoming anything more than a tourist attraction in parts of Utah and Nevada.

I do not really think it's that important that the bible is in your native language at all. The preaching is after all.
We did very well with the Vulgata and the Septuagint for more than 1500 years after all.
Also very few people only speak one of this obscure languages and no common one, like English, Spanish, Portugese, Dutch etc. Except for some isolated tribes maybe.
But I know it is predicted and stuff, so keep transating the bible protestants :^)

It is. For clergy, theology, tradition etcpp. Not necessarily for laymen. But possibly also for them.
In no way we can say that you are unable to be a Christian if you don't read or understand the scriptures though.
If you want to know why the bible shouldn't be translated consult any of the tens of thousands of prottie denoms.

I don't think so. "Satan" is Hebrew for "adversary" while the Roman god Saturn, according to Varro's De lingua latina, comes from "satu" which means "sowing," in reference to his original aspect of an agricultural god.
There might be some sort of etymological roots that connect the words even further back that I am unaware of, but I just think it's probably just a coincidence in language.

Osiris's "resurrection" was performed by his wife so she could sire a son, Horus, with him before he went on to the underworld. He died as soon as she was done.
>Oooooooh, feel-the-buuuuuuuurn, must be where Christianity got the idea from, right?

And the promise of Christ is NOT that "moral people" will have eternal life.
And Osiris was NOT virgin birthed, he was the son of Geb and Neuth/Nut
But, okay, yes, I will concede that Geb and Neuth were Egyptian gods.
WOW, what an overlap!
And Dionysus… sure he was "resurrected"… when he was a fetus, his mother was torn to shreds, so his fetus was sewn into the thigh of Zeus and birthed from there.
>Oooooooh, that's identical to Jesus, right?
There is ignorance, and this is shit like this, which has reached the level of four-horsemen-inspired meme
