What are your thoughts on masturbation? Is it a sin that will draw you further away from the Lord, or is it a harmless physical act that one may due to their leisure?

What does your "denomination" say about masturbation? Lets us debate and be civil.

 No.3824

its a sin, sadly im addicted to it.

I pray everyday to go trough, it makes me feel all demotivated,

Here's what the Church that baptised me has to say about it:

2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action."138 "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."139

To form an equitable judgment about the subjects' moral responsibility and to guide pastoral action, one must take into account the affective immaturity, force of acquired habit, conditions of anxiety or other psychological or social factors that lessen, if not even reduce to a minimum, moral culpability.

Wrote a post, decided against it. I'll probably disagree with everybody here but have no desire to go back to this topic.

what about sex for pleasure while married?

>>3839

wat

 No.3864

its bad for the soul, and i think we all know it

there's a reason why we feel guilt afterwards, and why having sex with your wife feels great

You're not the only one anon. Especially for us non-married chan users, I know it can be a great challenge. The level of perversion, especially, can make one feel rotten inside.

I'd be inclined to agree, though I've always been curious as to whether different types of masturbation can be worse than others. I do think the more depraved the porn becomes, the worse spiritually you feel.

>what about sex for pleasure while married?

It's fine afaik. Sex is not just for procreation but also for forming a bond between husband and wife.

I guess so.

pervert stuff > porn > just masturbating

I like the Catechism.

I like it too, for the most part. Even here it doesn't sound nearly as harsh as many people think it is.

Somewhat related question: what if someone has sex but does not enjoy it? Suppose it's done in sinful ways to begin with, as in cheating on your wife. What if you really love your adulterous lover, but you don't enjoy sex with them, but do it so they don't feel hurt, is that a sin too?

Also, what of people who masturbate to donate sperm, does the Church have a position on that?

Sex outside of marriage is sin. It's not about enjoying it, that's not what makes it sinful. It's the inherent rebellion of the whole act. This is just not how it should be.

>Also, what of people who masturbate to donate sperm, does the Church have a position on that?

I doubt it. In Vitro is frowned upon in general with which I agree but if you did it to get your own wife pregnant… just no one would really care.

That was a dumb question on my part.

I'm not against in vitro personally. You're not against people who have erectile dysfunction using technology to be able to procreate, in vitro is nothing else but using technology to procreate. (Unless you're against it because some "conceived humans" are discarded, because many are made to ensure fertilisation; in that case, I can't argue against your position because it's perfectly coherent.)
