What would you say to someone poor that approaches you and says that they have no reason to believe in God because of their situation?

It is understandable that they might think that God either does not care for them, does not love them or even hates them.

How would you explain the value of spiritual well being to someone that struggles to make a living for his family?

I'm sure you get where I wanna go here. Isn't it somehow understandable that an ungodly ideology like Marxism/Socialism/Communism relies on these people?

Can we blame them for that?

 No.5114

Want a poor man's loyalty? Promise him food.

Communism appealed to poorfags because it promised an escape from poverty. It is godless because it seeks to turn The State into God. Communism isn't godless because it wants to appeal to disillusioned poorfags. It's "godless" because it wants to be God.

I'm an atheist so I can't answer your actual question though. Just wanted to put that out there.

>What would you say to someone poor that approaches you and says that they have no reason to believe in God because of their situation?

"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, 'I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.'"

2 Corinthians 6:14-18

>How would you explain the value of spiritual well being to someone that struggles to make a living for his family?

"Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and one's foes will be members of one's own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

Matthew 10:34-37

This.

>scripture dude

>first verse

So when a poorfag approaches me and asks why he needs God I tell him to screw him? Shouldn't I like intend to convince him that religion is good and he needs to be saved?

>Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

Srsly?

>hey poorfag u need God

>says his children are starving

>grow a spine poorfag, you love your children too much

I do not think that these methods are very effective.

Not that approaching non christians with bible verses would often be anyway.

A beggar, a homeless, someone who barely manages to feed his family although he works (hard)

I'd imagine him to feel lost, and he certainly needs God, but how can I make it clear to such a person?

>heysir,you need God

>fuck off discipufag I need food

>nono trust me God is more important

>conversion intensifies.gif

1st world Mormon missionaries trying to convince 3rd world Catholics to convert and tithe 10 percent, because God will provide for them if they do so make for terrible testimony. I dislike all forms of the prosperity gospel though.

during my life ive seen that its less fortunate the ones who are follow God more than those who have their life on a silver spoon.

>>nono trust me God is more important

>not only from bread will man live but from God etc etc

if they refuse to believe in the bible and stuff, i would say that hi situation allows him to see to realize that life is more than materialism and that you dont need much stuf to be happy and that God will make him happy even if he doesnt have food on his table.

>It is understandable that they might think that God either does not care for them, does not love them or even hates them.

I'd say its pretty reasonable. And yet, its usually the poor and desperate that believe in God most fervently. Middle class yuppies are more likely to believe God doesn't care about them than some poor person that survives on faith and charity alone.

The soundest (not the only valid way but the soundest) way to deal with that would be to provide them with basic things like a little food, water and perhaps a cheap house. The Church does that all the time and it makes people join. Admittedly, some probably do so out of guilt or a sense of "honor", but they come around eventually and if they don't their kids probably would.
