So God is Not Dead 2 is coming out. Does anyone like the recent rush of Christian movies?

 No.6253

no

they are terribly done.

The best one that i seen was Noah because of the cool cgi

 No.6282

what are some good christian movies?

I really was impressed with War Room.

I mean, it was heavy cheesy and some of the acting/dialogue groanworthy, but mostly it was pretty good. The "old woman" (played by a woman in her late 40s) was effective.

really great because it doesn't pander to a secular depiction of indians, which i don't think you would see nowadays - though i still think it is very fair in its bias

great production overall

i've got enough bias against catholics…but i cannot deny these are well done and worth sharing

From the director of Casablanca!

Also - two years after the release the actress who plays St Clare became an IRL Catholic nun!!

There was the fictional "We Have A Pope", about a reluctant pope who.. something, I never finished it.

Is it any good?

It's supposed to be a pseudo-comedy of sorts, but the first bits i saw of it didn't have anything obviously heretical. Stay away from the WP page unless you want it spoiled.

>We Have a Pope (original title: Habemus Papam) is a 2011 Italian-French comedy-drama film directed by Nanni Moretti and starring Michel Piccoli and Moretti.[1] Its original title is Latin for "We have a pope", the phrase used upon the announcement of a new pope. The story revolves around a cardinal who, against his wishes, is elected pope. A psychoanalyst is called in to help the pope overcome his panic.[2] The film premiered in Italy in April 2011 and played in competition at the 64th Cannes Film Festival.

Wings of Desire is a good movie I saw recently. It's about two angels who walk the earth tending to people. They know who everyone is and can hear their thoughts. One of them becomes a human man and finds something.

i wish that by every 10 of these kind of movie 1 tried to be something else, something more.

Im not a fan of them, but im not against them, since theres alot of people who enjoy them. But normally they are filled with cliche and selfpandering.

The Matrix is a Christian movie

Neo is a Christian. At first he lives in the Matrix, the world of lies and sin. He searches for truth and is also searched for by Morpheus, a metaphor for Jesus. Agent Smith and his men, who represent Satan and his demons, are also searching for him to turn him to their side. He is offered a choice of waking up to the truth or staying in his original reality, and chooses to know the truth. Morpheus wakes him up from the Matrix and rescues him in his ship, representing being born again. The name Neo is a reference to being a new creation in Christ. In the ship Neo is introduced to the Matrix and learns how to influence it with Morpheus. The people who are still in the Matrix are unfriendly to Neo and those who have been awoken because they can tell that they don't belong there, just as people still trapped in sin and lies work against true Christians. At the end of the movie Neo sees the source code of the Matrix and gets God power over it, just as Christians who have truly come to know God will have God's power over the physical domain in the name of JESUS.

>This is from the wiki on the spiritual beliefs of the Wachowski "brothers", the directors of this film. I couldn't find anything but I would also suspect they have some jewish background. funny you say that; the director; justin kelly (fag), worked on milk (assistant editor)

>>8973

i still haven't seen this since posting it…

but looking at some interviews (can't find a single trailer though)…its still hard to say what the rationale / what position / message it has. franco said he wanted to try and be neutral / faithful to the experience, and leave interpretation to the audience.

the question comes down to: what explanation does the film give for michael's change? it sounds leave it ambiguous.

there is a lot of lgbtbbq hate surrounding this; but knowing them it might be just be because the film was trying to be neutral (only a polemic film on this subject would be acceptable to them lol)

apparently the man the film is based off watched the film and loved it; thanked franco and the director etc. also to note: michael no longer supports conversion therapy; however he still upholds his christian identity

really look forward to watching and interpreting this

They're both trannies now

 No.9543

I avoid them and any other supposedly christian works for the most part. It's not due to any specific doctrinal error found in any of the movies outside of the Left behind movies. There are often things that bother me in some cases where the message or point of the movie seems to miss the mark but it's hardly ever outright heretical or of terrible moral character.

I might be completely alone in feeling this way, but mainstream Christianity in the united states/western world has become more of a brand which is currently being exported by this type of media. I tend to have the mindset that taking brand JESUS™ and making sub par at best media both undermines God's word and turns off potential converts and only gives skeptics a cheap laugh and producers an easy buck. Yes I understand how pessimistic that all sounds but all you need to do is look at various reviews of said movies on various review sites and find out for yourself.

Don't prevent what I said from you enjoying what you want to enjoy, and I don't want to come across as saying everyone working on christian media are bad people/aren't real christians. But I just can't bring myself to enjoy that sort of thing.

Welcome to the land of faggotry where we downrate according to our politics

Or are folks gonna tell me the film was really that bad?

>James Franco, Zachary Quinto, Daryl Hannah

How the f-k could THIS have bombed with a cast that strong

Also why the f-k would those people WANT to appear in this film - they're not Christians?!

It's just like Ralph Fiennes doing Risen… wtf?!

Has Hollywood be turned inside out or something?

… ooooooooooooookay, I get it

They marketed it at gays, showing it at all the lbgtbbq film festivals, and they're not going to like it's politics, and because the film has gay sex in it no Christian is going to like it either you >>9226 have been warned

I thought it was an anarchist movie until I learned about Buddhism. My religious studies professor said every year after the Matrix without fail, someone would ask him in each class, "So this hollow world thing and striving to release from meaninglessness to reach reality….it's just like we're living in the Matrix right?" (Don't you think the movie has made Buddhism easier to understand?)

Now that I'm an Atheist I can even interpret it as a rejection of organized religion and institutionalized dogma. If the movie can have so many interpretations, it's probably a minimalist blank slate for you to project your feelings. There probably isn't only one valid interpretation, unless you only care about guessing the original intent of the multitude of authors/actors.

Saw it and would not recommend. There's maybe a handful of okay scenes, but I think it suffers from being an adaptation of a novel.

By that I mean while the book might be interesting, it does not translate to film very well. Lacks the necessary dramatic arc, feels like a collection of tenuously connected scenes.

However, Risen, also released recently, was great. Would highly suggest seeing that.
