What are some good video games that are compatible with Christian morality? Or where you at least don't have to go against God's commandments? You could argue that video games in general are a waste of time and should not be played sure, but if you have to choose one game

 No.7431

>>7429

You could play Civilization like that. If it's one of the newer ones, you can even try to convert people to Christianity. You can build cathedrals. There's no murder because it's all in the context of war, etc.

Hmm now that you say it, I think Civ4 even has religious victory conditions.

>>7433

I believe you are correct. I usually play Civ 3 though, so I can't be certain. Either way, as >>7435 also points out, essentially strategy games are going to be your go-to on this one.

You can also beat the RPG Undertale without killing anyone, though there is degeneracy in it, unfortunately.

Some of the castlevania games would apply, since there you are killing monsters and demons, and in some cases you're even working with the church or a monastery.

 No.7453

>>7429

>that are compatible with Christian morality?

Elaborate!

 No.7536

Crusader Kings II and Super 3-D Noah's Ark are great games on Steam, and they're available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Medieval II: Total War and Adam's Venture Chronicles I've heard positive things about.

 No.7537

>>7429

Arguably, Doom, but the player character is confirmed to be damned and all of the human enemies are technically just victims of possession, so killing them may be murder (or not, given that doomguy is arguably fighting legitimately according to just war theory).

RE 1&2 technically don't have you committing any sins, unless you count the abominations of science you fight in the games as "human".

Silent Hill 2 could be argued to be a game about penance that ultimately exposes the practical problems caused by sin.

Most management sims have nothing questionable about them ethically.

Doom 1 episode one ends with Doomguy dying.

Doom 1 episode two begins with Doomguy waking up on Deimos in Hell.

He died and went to hell. Not much more damned than that.

Play Alpha Centauri as the Lord's Believers. Take over the planet and rid it of sin.

Those games bring out the sociopathy in everyone though. Don't try to tell me with a straight face that you haven't/wouldn't try to recreate Mr. Bones Wild Ride.

op asked for compatible, not compulsory.

you can be evil in those game, but compared to say, legend of Zelda (where you're a polytheist), sin isn't inbuilt into the world.

I can agree with that in LoZ, but in every zelda thence, the religion is blatant tritheism with local deities here and there.

>You could argue that video games in general are a waste of time and should not be played sure,

Hardly. Is art a waste of time? Music? No. Enjoying the fruits of the labor of others in a fair exchange is fine as long as those fruits are wholesome. There are plenty of fine games that one can enjoy. Dismissing games as wrong due to being "a waste of time" is wrong.

How compatible is the Souls series?

Demon's Souls seems alright. You could pretty easily pretend God in that game is the Christian God.

Dark Souls is a bit harder.

Bloodborne seems impossible.

Thought, /christ/?

 No.8183

>>8182

I never played it myself, but I enjoyed the stor of Dark souls a lot. I do not think that consuming non-christian media is necessarily harmful.

I'm also not sure if the dark souls lore is incompable with christianity.

>Bloodborne

Never heard of it.

 No.8185

>>8084

I can agree on LoZ, but only up to Wind Waker. The Zelda games are obviously originally inspired by Christian theology and Tolkein/Lewis fantasy worlds which themselves are Christian, and as such, at best, Zelda games can serve as an entertaining Christian allegory.

From Link having a cross on his shield in the original, to the triforce being reminiscent of the trinity, Link is a savior figure, Ganon is the devil, Ganondorf is the anti-Christ, Zelda represents the church like the great woman of revelation who needs to be rescued, WW's great deluge is like Noah's.

But after Wind Waker Nintendo left Christian allegory behind and started pushing balance between light and dark eastern philosophy BS. Not coincidentally, that's when Zelda started to suck, with Twilight Princess.

Anyway, I don't play Zelda anymore. I vote with my dollars and boycott Nintendo.

 No.8186

>>8183

Yea, but I prefer being able to play as a Christian in RPGs, even if it takes some imagination.

I find it hard to get immersed when I'm trying to "link the fire" in Dark Souls. It has too much of the "light and dark eastern philosophy BS" as >>8185 put it.

Demon's Souls is my favorite game from the souls series for that reason.

 No.8187

Speaking of Demon's Souls, I just found out that a woman in the valley of defilement mentions the Virgin Mary.

Dragon Age is the only game in mind where this would be somehow possible. I can recommend that though.

The chantry? I mean it's obviously based on the Catholic Church but the female pope/priests are kind of off-putting. And everything after origins is just a degeneracy simulator from what I've heard.

 No.8200

>>8198

>but the female pope/priests are kind of off-putting.

I've never given too much thought to that tbh

There is the black patriarch in Tevinter and the Tevinter Imperium has just male priests though iirc

>And everything after origins is just a degeneracy simulator from what I've heard.

I've heard that too, but have never played the sequels. I have the second one lying around here though, maybe I will try it some time this year.

 No.8201

>>8200

I've been considering playing through the trilogy. I could just ignore the womyn-pope I suppose. A templar play through might be fun. Hopefully the fag propaganda won't be too blatant.

Mass Effect might actually be a better choice, I remember you could outright declare yourself a Christian in the first game, or at least a thiest. Though it's never mentioned again in the latter two, of course.

Did you even finish the game? Yes the boletarian god is based on the christian god. But you find out that the one everybody calls "God" is none other than The Old One who is nothing more than a voracious beast set on devouring the world. This is why Astrea became what she is and why Freke goes mad at the end. Did you even get the ToB?

It's a great game but it's definitely not pro-Christianity.

As far as the mythos and storyline go, Dark Souls has absolutely nothing to do with christianity.

Though you could wear Solaire's armour and shout "Deus Vult" a whole lot if you wanted.

Never played Bloodborne.
