The 144,000 are 12,000 from each of the twelve tribes of Israel that count as servants of God. After this is mentioned a "great multitude which no man could number", of all nations (i.e., the goyim) that have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb.

So we know who has achieved salvation: 144,000 Jews and innumerable goyim. (The latter number probably includes Christian Jews as well.)

As a Catholic you are obliged to believe in supersessionism, that is the belief that the Israel of God is the Church, which replaced the former old covenant. Being a jew has no spiritual redeeming qualities whatsoever.

So these 144000 are actually Catholics.

Also it is obviously symbolical, 12 being the number of the people of God, and 144 being 12x12

the fact God had John write out specifically 12000 of each tribe is probably because God knew people would try and find a way of linking the synagogue of Satan to the 144000… so he made it REAL clear

it's old testament saints coming back with Jesus, to preach the word on earth after the rapture, to the as yet unsaved. that's why they get sealed in their foreheads… to make them completely immune from the wrath that God is pouring out

I just want to point out thaat the modern state that names itself "ISrael" is never and in no case the biblical Israel, or even mentioned there, and that the people that call themselves "jews" are in no way the biblical Israelite people or the "Jews" that lived at the same time as Jesus, but are indeed the synagogue of satan, do not worship the same God as we do nor follow the old covenant.

Are you asking about what happened to the twelve tribes? It's pretty complicated, but what we think of as "Jews" in the Second Temple era are from the southern kingdom tribes of Judah (hence "Jew") and various random others, including the priestly tribe of Levi.
