howdy /christ/

lately i've been searching for greater spiritual meaning in my life but i'm finding it hard to commit to Christianity. I like to tell myself i'm christian and believe in god although i don't go to church and never read the bible (although appropriate it's philosophy and what it has done for human kind) and i'm finding it hard to believe myself sometimes.

Has anyone else been through this situation before?

Can you have some agnostic underlining but consider yourself christian?

Can you believe god was the why and not the how when it comes to where humans came from

If it helps i have been baptized, i went to a christian school where we attended church a couple of times a week and i want to commit but concerned i'm just lulling myself into a false sense of security encase it is all true (again want to believe it but just have problems committing) so i wouldn't be considered a 'true' believer

On a side note how does Christianity treat people like me in the rapture? would i be saved for i want to believe or would i be damned because i hesitate to much.

>tl;dr help an agnostic out find god and the christian faith

so ITT post stories on how you found faith, anything that could help people in my situation and or a type of bible that is considered the most accurate (i think the KJB was widely considered the best version)

Howdy m8

I think every healthy christian have doubt before. Its in that moment when 'you' actually accept God, not society, not your family, but you.

What agnostic things you believe in?

Why not both?

I dont belive in the rapture, so the same as me? You dont need to be perfect to be saved.

I live in a highly catholic country, so I would always have it around me, when I was about 14 I started doubt the faith itself, when I was around 18 I started study the bible, read stuff about, now I feel confident in the faith.

Posts whatever questions or doubts you have m8, Ill try to answer them.

>Has anyone else been through this situation before?

No, I think you are the first man to go through this

;^ )

>Can you have some agnostic underlining but consider yourself christian?

There are people with a dingdong that consider themselve a woman, so sure. You can consider a lot, but it is wrong maybe.

>. I like to tell myself i'm christian and believe in god although i don't go to church and never read the bible (although appropriate it's philosophy and what it has done for human kind) and i'm finding it hard to believe myself sometimes.

You do neither go to Church nor read the bible. What is it you wanted to believe in like that?

>Can you believe god was the why and not the how when it comes to where humans came from

What do you mean by this?

>If it helps i have been baptized, i went to a christian school where

What denomination was this?

>On a side note how does Christianity treat people like me in the rapture? would i be saved for i want to believe or would i be damned because i hesitate to much.

God will judge that.

Rev 3,16

So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

though

>so ITT post stories on how you found faith

maybe later, it is nothing special though

>or a type of bible that is considered the most accurate

As long it is permitted for laity use by the Church it is at least half decent.

>On a side note how does Christianity treat people like me in the rapture? would i be saved for i want to believe or would i be damned because i hesitate to much.

Rapture is post-tribulation, not before it. Nobody is randomly going to get beamed up just one of these days, before that the antichrist will rule the earth for some time.

Secondly you either believe or you don't. If you believed and confessed with your mouth you have been saved, and if not you're not saved.

>. I like to tell myself i'm christian and believe in god although i don't go to church and never read the bible

Going to church has nothing to do with being saved or not. Millions of unsaved people go to church all the time and they consider themselves Christians. .

KJV is the best bible, other ones have verses cut out and doctrine perverted

>>7960

>Rev 3,16

>So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

That has been taken out of context, read the rest of the chapter, he is talking about chastening saved people, not salvation.

>And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

>I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

>So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

>Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

>I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

>As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

>Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Who does the lord punish here on this earth for wrongdoing? Hebrews 12

>And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

>For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

>If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

>But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

If you're not receving punishment here on this earth for your sins, you're probably not even saved in the first place.

By agnostic belief i mean i have a healthy sense of skepticism with most theories of where we came from but the adam and eve thing is a bit far fetched for me (even though i know your not supposed to take scripture literally). So i believe in evolution but i think under extraordinary events God brought us to this point

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjGPHF5A6Po

I guess i need to experience the world a bit more to find whether or not i ever i truly find the faith, hopefully i do. I like the community and ideals/ teachings of Christianity. thanks anon

>>7960

:L

i'll keep that in mind, again having problems with saying 'yes i believe in god' i imagine finding god in your life is not like turning on a switch. i'm in the mind set of 'i wanna believe but i don't know how to believe in god' it literally feels like i'm hitting a wall.

>What is it you wanted to believe in like that?

w-what? i was just saying i don't and haven't atm but am willing if it would help but i think it's more a self exploration thing than a triggered thing

presbyterian or anglican i forget. It was my grand parents idea and my parents were never that secular

>Rev 3,16

i read some Interpretation and i think >>7981 is right.

i'll keep that in mind, thanks anon.

>>7981

will keep that in mind, i need to live life a bit more and find myself before i find faith. thanks for the rec.

Cheers guys for helpin a guy out, means alot :y

>having problems with saying 'yes i believe in god'

why?

Do you think God can be proven empirically?

 No.8018

>>7995

idk really i guess i'm just waiting for some divine intervention with a life experience (great joy or great loss). Will say the most awe inspiring thing I've witnessed was on top of mt niseko in japan. There was weird sense surrealism.

>>8006

that's is the issue i'm facing, i don't think it is empirical but i'm skeptical when making decisions with everything so naturally this is hard for me. I tend to need some kind of convincing but knowing what Christianity is this is not the right thought process

I've said this before but I can't imagine it's like flicking on a switch, hence why me just saying 'i believe in god' means nothing if i don't feel like it's sincere, i'd just be lying to myself and to god really.

 No.8020

well, you should see to it that you get saved as soon as possible, because you never know what could happen, when youre gonna die, accidents can happen etc.

>that's is the issue i'm facing, i don't think it is empirical but i'm skeptical when making decisions with everything so naturally this is hard for me. I tend to need some kind of convincing but knowing what Christianity is this is not the right thought process

read 1 corinithians chapter 1 and 2
