I'm curious how many of you took courses or were trained in this? How many of you have sat in an auditorium and listened to a formal debate between a Christian and a non-Christian on the existence of Yahweh?

Didn't know such things actually happened. Always experienced both sides arguing safely within their structure and domain.

Universities sometimes hold them. The last one paired a "skeptic" professor with a born again Christian graduate from Oxford. Theu were to debate on whether Jesus was resurrected, but of course the scope broadened over over a couple hours. Each side would speak for about twenty minutes segments with powerpoints, and then when a bell chimed they would hand the podium off to the other.

Imo the professor kicked butt at the public university especially in the post debate Q and A with the audience, but was intimidated when called for a follow up at a private Christian university. He scaled back the force of his arguments to philosophical abstraction out of political correctness, or because he and his wife had attended seminaries there, and probably still had friends in the faculty. I feel such such debates are more honest in a public venue.

>debating soft targets like Prots

Typical fedoras. Try debating Feser or someone who actually knows some philosophy and theology sometime.
