Doesn't this go against the idea of preaching the gospel as Jesus would have wanted? The pope basically said the New Testament is unnecessary to get into heaven/avoid hell. He might as well go further and tell all missionaries to stay home.

Hmm… I'll wait for one of our regular Catholics to provide coverage from a more traditionalist source. This article is drenched in liberal language and smugness rather than anything resembling piety and reverence or respect for the Catholic Church. I doubt it is as true as they say.

If it is, I dare say the Catholic Church might be entering an age of death and sadness.

Reuters is actually one of the most objective reporting organizations, and also one of the 3 biggest. They have an army of thousands of reporters internationally who find stories and write briefs under a policy of objectivity. They then sell these stories to conservative and liberal papers all over the world who then tailor the stories with a conservative or liberal bias to appeal to their audience.

When you read Reuters you cut out the middle men. It is as close to a primary source as you can get for current affairs without talking to the reporters or who they interview directly. The only thing that is openly biased are the editorials on the website, which can be recognized because they're the only ones that enable comments.

>Pope says

Try again. The Pope didn't say that.

To add, the Pope hasn't put his signature on this, let alone made it doctrine.

Until he does(which is unlikely imo) it's just some guy at the Vatican's fanfiction.

Jerusalem, the Jews, are the whore of Babylon and the synagogue of Satan that have gone away from God.

Now we have the Vatican supporting that behavior in this meeting. There is no official document, but they are steps away from creating one:

https://archive.is/eOCPw

http://www.romereports.com/2015/12/11/catholics-and-jews-come-together-at-vatican-to-reflect-on-50-years-of-progress

> The relationship between Catholics and Jews hasn't always been strong, to say the least. But during a press conference held at the Vatican, leaders from both faiths reflected on the tremendous progress that has been made after the Second Vatican Council.

>They came together to discuss a new document from the Vatican Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, "The Gifts and the Calling of God are Irrevocable.” But the conversation was about much more.

>The text recalls that the alliance with God is valid and that the Catholic Church should not try to convert Jews. A major focus was on how Catholics and Jews can work together on some of the most pressing issues of our time through dialogue.

>FR. NORBERT HOFMANN

>Secretary, Vatican Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews

>"When you read the document, you see the goals listed up. It's to know each other better, of course for collaboration for peace, for justice, for the preservation of the creation and for reconciliation. These are, let's say, the great goals of the dialogue.”

>The document was prepared to mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of "Nostra aetate.” The historic declaration set the basis for dialogue between Catholics and other religions.

>One Jewish representative suggested that his presence at the Vatican was itself proof of progress. He noted that a group of Orthodox rabbis had also recently published a document about their relationship with Christianity. He quoted from it.

>RABBI DAVID ROSEN

>American Jewish Committee

>"'Christianity is neither an accident nor an error, but the willed outcome of divine will and a gift to the nations.' And it calls for us, as indeed this document issued by the Pontifical Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, to work together as partners to address the moral challenge of our era.”

>Since fifty years have passed since the landmark declaration about Catholicism's relationship with other faiths, some wondered whether it was time for second "Nostra Aetate.” The participants didn't give a definitive answer, though they suggested that publications like these were steps on the way to such a statement.

Due to the Vatican alignment with the UN, (under the guise of bringing peace, sustainable development, fighting climate change, etc) it is clear that they are involved in bringing a one world government into existence.

Now they are justifying the rebellion of the Jews and therefore aligning the entire church with them.

It is very likely, given their state of apostasy, the leadership of the Catholic Church is the second beast of revelations which will give credit to the first beast. In other words, the pope is not likely to be the anti-christ but he and the Vatican will support him.
