I wouldn't say atheism is equal to nihilism, but atheism certainly employs nihilism whilst disregarding its conclusions and consequences.
Christianity is far more nihilistic, recognising that only through death, through daily preparation for death, with the training of the spiritual self to struggle with the inevitable.
Christianity is a mystified death, a death elevated beyond its temporal boundaries.
Death becomes something to long for, to reach out for at every instance of confidence.
Atheists, by contrast, reject the idea that death is as imminent as it is inevitable. They believe in revelry in this momentary world, only to pursue their own self gratification in a way which their delusional selves believe defies death, insults death… When indeed it is death who insults them.
