So why/why not? Myself I was born, baptized and raised Greek Orthodox and through learning and growing up I decide to maintain Orthodoxy though I tend to take my birth into it for granted. Also through discussion with Orthodox converts and arguments brought forth from Papists and Protestants alike I know that Orthodoxy is the answer.

The whole rituals, customs, gold and silver.

The Orthodoxy Church is the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Everything is done with reason. How can you not "stand the icons", that sounds like pride to me (I'm not judging).

Step into an Orthodox church some time and ask the priest some question, I think you'll surprise yourself.

What is the difference between the Orthodox concept of Heaven and the Catholic idea of Heaven (and Hell)?

Bonus Round: Can you compare and contrast that to a generalized and non-specific version of Protestant Heaven just for demonstrative purposes?

Catholics kitschs also have some meaning attached to it. As if it were some masonic lodge, that every little thing its some sign or code.

Maybe im too iconoclast.

But I cannot stand them. It think the church and the bible are sacred, and the depiction of the latter in the former takes away from both.

I know the normal justification for it its that it helps to tell the story, as some kind of aid. And its true, just like a movie might help.

But inside a church just feels so wrong.

L.O.L. show me one Christian who says he isn't "orthodox". The trick is getting it right.
