Original Sin and Penal Substitution Theory are the worst inventions of Western Christianity?

>Original Sin

Solves the problem of evil. Considering the time period in which it was developed its a perfectly reasonable and logical explanation of why bad things happen to good people.

>Penal Substitution Theory

There were two choices OP. Either throw away the old stuff and go from there (Gnosticism, and they never got in bed with the Romans like the Christianity that made their views valid as a matter of law via councils) or try and make some sense of the whole YHWH being how he was vs. Jesus being pretty noticeably different in character, and he was dead anyways, so, you know. The One True Heir to the Davidic Throne, the Messiah, can't really die, can he? No, he's not really dead, he's coming back soon, very soon, and since the Temple's been destroyed, also you don't need to sacrifice, he took care of it.

If you don't like it just pick a different religion. Pretty much every sect that has Jesus involved is affected by this to some degree or another. Even if they claim otherwise.

>Solves the problem of evil.

actually it makes it worse.

ascribing guilt via association or heredity is unjust.

it also creates a bunch of additional problems like infants being guilty of sin and thus hellbound, retards, ignorant people likewise are doomed.

>unjust.

Not really. Where does morality emanate from? In the material world, from the chief or king, because he has the force to make his will manifest. Its that simple. But even the king cannot control weather, disease, death. Logically (remember the time pls), there must be another king above him who controls this.

He makes the laws. His will is the only true morality. Therefore, human conceptions of morality are empty and without authority, whereas any proclamation from God has virtue by being from him, regardless of what it is.

>infants being guilty of sin and thus hellbound, retards, ignorant people likewise are doomed.

This solves that problem actually. The problem is that these things happen in the first place. In a world where infants drop like flies, mental illness is mysterious and scary, foreigners are nothing but trouble, violence and plague; this God makes perfect sense. We are being punished by God for what our fathers did. Maybe if we appease God, our children wont die, people wont be retarded and foreigners won't come to steal out shit and rape our people (we will do this to them instead, God willing, maybe).
