is self pleasure the sin or the thoughts and the porn associated with it? or both?

61fd58 No.258651

Fixation on lustful imagery distracts from God and kills your own character. Fetishistic sex and deviancy becomes a central focus in your mind, basically expelling all of the spiritual aspects of your ego in favor of material concepts realized by signs and symbols associated with pornography. Every other thought in your brain becomes phallic-shaped (regardless of orientation). In essence, you end up worshiping the pole as your God by virtue of your fixation and its accompanying ritual of masturbation.

Spilling seed is Onanism–which was punished with a lightning strike.

Both bad. And the combination of the two becomes both a physical and a psychological addiction since an orgasm releases a cocktail of drugs into your system that reinforce your attachment with whomever, or whatever, you're sexually interfacing.

I don't believe masturbation is inherently sinful, apart from lust. That said, I've been on nofap for 7 months and counting, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

>am I the only one?

Judging from the proliferation of threads on the subject, no.

Why couldn't you have asked this in an existing thread?

Sexual urge, the raw biological component is not sinful. Whether masturbation is sinful depends on the thoughts accompanying the act.

A man travelling far from home who masturbates to thoughts of his wife has, in my opinion, not sinned.

A man who masturbates to thoughts of another's woman has committed adultery, to thoughts of an impossible copulation (furry, 2D, etc.) has committed lust (furry might be lust and pornea), to thoughts of an actual animal or homosexual thoughts, pornea.

Both

On one hand (;D) is the misuse of the sexual faculty and on the other is lust.

>By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action."138 "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved. Video porn is dehumanizing, in a violent sort of way.

The story of Onan made it pretty clear that the sin was refusing to give his brother a son.

You can have your reasons to oppose masturbation, but pseudoscientific research is a bad one.

254b02 No.258848

Probably both, definitely porn.

The Onan thing can easily be interpreted as God killing Onan because he didn't do as he was obligated by the law and impregnate his brother's wife so his brother would have a legal heir, but addiction to masturbation is obviously bad in and of itself, and if you're Catholic, you're not supposed to put semen in anywhere else besides your wife's vagina.

>porn

>not addictive

Psychologists can't even measure the impact of porn in young college students because there isn't a large enough sample size for the control group.

Onanism is a misnomer. The story of Onan showed us what happens when you disobey an order from God. That doesn't mean masturbation isn't a sin, since it is sinful for its own reason, but let's remember to keep our facts straight, here.

What if I watch hentai with my wife? No human to lust after or be hurt by the porn industry. What if I recieve blowjob from my wife? How seriously strict is this every sperm is sacred rule? It is not like I'm aborting a fetus or fornicating, so what is the problem?

>How seriously strict is this every sperm is sacred rule?

There is no 'every sperm is sacred' rule. Don't conflate comedy movies with the real world. Read the catechism instead:

Yes, it absolutely is. Pornography and masturbation to unclean thoughts is a sin. It is absolutely. Do not let anyone fool you with tricks in their words.

What part are we to have with uncleanness, if we are to be apart of the Kingdom.

Is it difficult to stop? Yes, and it becomes more difficult the longer you do a thing. But you can stop, you can pray to God and ask for the power to stop, not just stop looking at Pornography, but to stop having lusting thoughts and fleshly desires that push you to look at porn.

People will lie to you, as they lie to themselves, because they love their sin, and the pleasures which come from it.

So then cumming in my wife's mouth is okay? As would be say masturbating to nudes that she made for me?

607d7d No.259212

Onan isnt about masturbation its about mistreating your wife . Onan wasn't jerking off in secret he was abusing his wife and denying her offspring and breaking his "brotherly duty"…the way he did it wasn't the issue; if he became celibate he still would've been struck dead. Back then they had some weird Israeli rules for widows and brothers. Those rules no longer apply, so anyone who brings up Onan as an argument against masturbation isn't a real Christian but probably a messianic Jew or pure Jew…or confused.

St. Augustine brought up Onan as his argument. I still think he was mistaken and did not understand levirate marriage or Judaism. The Lust argument is the only real one.

Did you even read the catechism? Read it and then come back and say what you think it teaches on your question.

Porn (much like anything) can follow the psychological definition of addiction. Does a tolerance develop? Do withdraw symptoms form? There is not a one size fits all answer for addiction. However, some definitely can need a "stronger fix" of porn. In other words these people build a tolerance and therefore may be building an addiction. Many behavior and cognitive factors can play a role in the addiction.

TLDR: You're fighting pseudoscience with biased pseudopsychology

336fa0 No.261896

Onan story is about taking use of a widow.

that said, www.yourbrainonporn.com

0f82b4 No.261903

It's not really the physical act of masturbation that is the problem.

It's what leads to it.

Masturbation is linked to lust, and that is a sin.

So stop having lustful thoughts towards women or simply get a wife.
