What's /†/'s attitude toward karezza? I just learned about it completely by accident recently and wondered what the Christian attitude would be and what other Christians might think. I know that Catholics pooh-pooh coitus interruptus and other forms of birth control, but what about coitus reservatus?

There's a lot of mysticism mumbo jumbo that pervades it like about chakras and energies and things like that but reading testimonies and the science behind it, I'm quite interested in learning more about it. Has anyone else heard about karezza?

I don't think the RCC has made any kind of statement regarding karezza, but I don't see why they would be opposed to it. The reason is that in the view of the RCC, the purpose of sex is to procreate and unite married couples, and the whole point of karezza is to unite couples, so I don't think it would be teleologically unsound.

For those of you who don't know, Karezza is basically sex without orgasm. I've never done it, but if I understand it correctly, you basically just sit there with your dick in your partner's vagina (or vice-versa if you're a girl) and cuddle and caress each other.

Curious on this one as well.

sounds like a bad idea; don't do it and don't engage in such depraved activities unless you're attempting to have a kid that time, which in that case you wouldn't be

Looking through the Summa, I saw this concerning marriage:

>marriage is not essentially the carnal union itself, but a certain joining together of husband and wife ordained to carnal intercourse, and a further consequent union between husband and wife, in so far as they each receive power over the other in reference to carnal intercourse, which joining together is called the nuptial bond.

But I can't seem to find anything about what Aquinas thought "carnal intercourse" should be used for.
