Why the need for such? Can't they see the endgame of a life devoid of God is hell itself, without the need for lake of fire allegories?

I feel similiar. Eternity in endgame without God is already slowly dooming yourself into utter despair, sooner or later.

This will happen with or without lakes of fire. No need to add cauterisation to make the point. Not even sure if this view is ok or edgy, but it's how I honestly see it.

lol, no. you guys are always using protestantism as a scapegoat for whatever doctrines you don't like. catholics and protestants all used to believe in the 'literal burning for ever' thing, and now many catholics and protestants have moved on to the 'hell is just absence from God' thing.
