Are christians partaking in a Just War punished or rewarded for the length of their kil count?

Sinning by being a proficient soldier is not logical, but being saintly be merely being good at war doesnt sound too good either.

Its a grey area that will never really be fully ironed out. It would depend on the heart of each individual soldier.

>implying soldiers aren't murderers with Caesar's sanction

It's like you don't believe in the message of the Gospel or something.

The war Chris Kyle killed in was not a Just War, obviously. Killing in an unjust war is murder. Mass murder will not earn you any heavenly rewards.

In a hypothetical just war you would not be rewarded for how many lives you take. Maybe for how many lives were saved by your actions.

Also this. God can see if the soldier is killing out of hate and pleasure in killing, or if he is doing it because he feels he must to prevent a greater evil and has a heart filled with repentance.

A Christian soldier will be as Saint Jeanne d'Arc was: implacable in battle, and then tending to the enemy wounded and praying with the dying enemy when the battle is over.

Bravery, determination, victory—yes.

Malice, hate–no.

For princes are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good: and thou shalt have praise from the same.

For he is God's minister to thee, for good. But if thou do that which is evil, fear: for he beareth not the sword in vain. For he is God's minister: an avenger to execute wrath upon him that doth evil.

-Romans 13:3-4
