First of all the fact you are being convicted off your sins is a positive sin. The Bible calls us to believe and repent. Repentance is a turning away from sin towards God and His kingdom.
I would strongly advise you don't go to an Eastern Orthodox church let alone a Roman Catholic church.
If anything find a Presbyterian church but if you want a conservative church most Lutheran churches are great. Reformed churches are going to be your best bet.
> This is not that i haven't sought repentance or had a visceral feeling after but i have never gone to the church and confessed my sins (prot 'ere). I've always chewed on my sins and asked for forgiveness in prayer (as little to nearly none till recently) or thought over my mistakes
Understand that due to Adam's fall we inherit a sin nature and so you will be prone to sinning while in your fleshly body.
You don't confess your sins to a priest and get absolved. You confess them to God. Understanding you have transgressed his laws, and that you sincerely wish you hadn't. But obviously God's grace is working within you and it's obvious you see yourself as a violator of his law worthy of hell.
> Has anyone ever been in this situation or know how to approach a new church?
Most churches are going to be very welcoming. Best advice though is to show up half an hour before the service if not an hour if you want to really discuss with the pastor. Otherwise you can just show up 10 minutes before and worship. You will be welcomed. People will generally ask you what made you come, why our church and so and son.
>Also i'm concerned I've only found god due to my fear of what might be the end days approaching and not out of divine intervention.
You should fear God. This is good. For his elect he has prepared a new heaven and earth. Learn to love God. Appreciate what he has done.
Also what denomination where you brought up in? Anglicanism?
