Also, to address the subject of the thread, I think it's worth pointing out that sex abuse is an absolute intrinsic evil, whereas supporting Putin and his regime is debatable.

Consider the context. Russia was dropped straight from feudalism into totalitarian communism into capitalist oligarchy. It has never had the opportunity to develop the kind of civil society that supports democracy, so even if you held a free election today it would inevitably revert into something equally terrifying as what we have now.

But I will say having a central head of all Christians independent of any secular nation, the Holy See, is much more prudent than letting all that misplaced nationalism run loose in the autocephalous churches. The Pope just needs to be a little less preoccupied with making media appearances and a little more with exercising the Petrine office.

politics is a dirty game. so the way the eastern orthodoxy churches are constructed they get involved in it too. is that a bad thing? marxists said it was. and many people then agreed too. but they agreed because they were disappointed with the tsar. putins regime brought the people out from difficult economic conditions.

And how does one know that the only sin of the Orthodox is nationalism? Let's face it Russian (or any other country where orthodoxy is popular) stats are not the most reliable….. who is to say Russia doesn't have a massive meth problem, youth huffing paint, Orphanages where the children suffered irreparable mental damage due to no interaction with people and who knows what else? You hear about Child abuse in Western nations because the press is free, and people can make statements critical of the Church and State without fear…. we can't say the same of people living under the Putin regime.
