You don't need to.

Use tools like www.biblehub.com and read in parallel, and occasionally click on important words (usually verbs) and read their definition.

Greek is useless. The country is ruined, their economy destroyed and its being overrun by Arabs/muslims.

Can you confirm the Pentecostal church is just circlejerking around bad translations when saying 1 Corinthians 13,1 refers to an angelic language?

6ba212 No.262275

Typing on my computer so my ID might change.

>>262253

I was a classics student who learned Attic first and learned Koine through self-study. It's definitely worth it! It greatly expands your sense of perspective and can be a very devotional practice.

The Greek of the NT really ranges in terms of complexity. Revelation and Mark are the most simplistic, and a novice learner can reasonably expect to be able to read them in a few months. Hebrews and the letters of Paul are the most complex and will take longer.

>>262265

It's unambiguously "and the tongues of angels." It's a theological question, not one of translation.

f865f7 No.262372

>>262275

So, aren’t angel and messenger the same word in Greek?

6ba212 No.262378

>>262372

That's true. However, "tongues of men or of messengers" is a strange comparison. Angel is a much more likely translation. There are also many, many more references to ἄγγελον as the heavenly host rather than a messenger, although we do get them – for example in a Septuagint quote in Matthew 11:10 and referring to some followers of John the Baptist in Luke 7:24.
