Who was Judas, and why did he betray Jesus?

It would be extremely sinful…

for jew

e2cf81 No.262054

My theory is that he realized Jesus was not a military Messiah who would free Israel from Rome, and because of that he lost his faith. Basically a choosing the proverbial Barrabus over Jesus. Just a hunch.

I am familiar with the Gnostic gospel of Judas, I will say it is GROSSLY polytheistic. He claims Jesus comes from the realm of "Barbello" (Gnostic Pantheon) Total docetist crap.

You forget that Judas was an apostle. Judas never preached false doctrines.

>>262041

He did it for the money.

e2cf81 No.262069

>>262060

He never preached anything. I merely posited that he sinned because he was expecting the Messiah as a military leader like the Essenes did and he betrayed Jesus when he realized Jesus was a spiritual teacher.

>He did it for the money.

He traveled with Jesus for a long time. It seems a bit odd to betray him for just money.

>>262041

Some say just for the money, some arue strong influence from satan.

Other oriental/orthodox churches (don't know which ones anymore) regard him as a saint for fulfilling God's Word.

Judas was a Jewish supremacist. You know how greasy these Jews are.

this tbh judas is the most jewy of all the disciples of the new testament

he handled their finances, he betrays christ for some shekels and his name is jew das

3d49f6 No.262136

Yet he did. He was assblasted over Jesus using valuable stuff instead of selling it.

>his name is jew das

There cannot be people stupid enough to think that matters

St. Jude's name was also Judas

Judas was not simply evil greedy or vengeful. He might of been compelled by Satan, or by God. He felt remorse for his actions, and he did one of the greatest services to mankind that has ever happened. I pray, (and i hope you do too) that he is in paradise.

>He never preached anything.

Judas would have spoken of theology with the other apostles and the other disciples and with outsiders at length. None of the others detected heresy in anything he said, otherwise they would have known right away that Judas would be the one to betray Jesus when Jesus prophesied that one of his apostles would betray Him. There's no reason to believe that he had any overt beliefs that separated him from the others.

>>262099

Although he was probably the first, he definitely wouldn't be the last Christian to do so, that's for sure.

Judas was stingy. Remember the incident with the woman who wanted to use perfume to wash Jesus' feet? Judas wanted to sell the perfume. His sin was mammonism.

>>262160

Judas witnessed Christ performing miracles and still betrayed Him. Judas knew that Jesus is the Son of God and still rejected Him. That's blaspheming against the Holy Spirit, the one unforgivable sin, isn't it? I can't guess if Judas actually committed that sin, but if he did, your prayers are better directed elsewhere.

It says in the Bible he loved money and would regularly steal from the money set aside for alms (he was in charge of the money). In the Gospel of John, I think.

So there you go. There's the explanation. I'm pretty sure it also says something like thay God allowed an evil spirit to take possession of him.

I'll tell you what I want to believe about Judas.

>he was a misguided, but mostly good, person motivated by mostly good intentions

>he thought that Christ was going to turn into a conquering king any day now

>he was disappointed when he saw that Christ had no intentions of killing Romans

>so he made a plan to give Christ a little incentive

>he expected that Jesus would save himself from the cross and start fucking up the Romans right there on Cavalry

>Judas must have observed that Christ did not save himself, but instead died

>when Judas realized what how bad he fucked up he was overcome with remorse

>he threw the blood shekels back at the kikes who gave them to him

>and he killed himself in a fit of despair

Again, that's what I want to believe. It doesn't seem to mesh very well with all of what Scripture says about the guy. Such as "it would be better for him if he had never been born".
