"For God is not the author of confusion"

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie"

old testament is for jews, real christians follow only the gospel

But the Gospel repeatedly justifies the validity of the Old Testament as Jesus carries around a Septuagint, consistently quotes from it, and fulfills its prophecies.

>old testament says child must be circumcised at eighth day

Just so happens that on the 8th day, VITAMIN K levels are optimal.

Wait, this isn't even Anderson. This guy is catholic. I've gotta get more information on this Vitamin K conspiracy

I really wish you wouldn't post verses without identifying exactly where they came from OP. 1 Corinthians 14:33 seems to be saying in particular that God does not desire to create confusion or disorder among those who worship him, "the congregations of the Lord's people". So God does not create confusion for his faithful in what they should and shouldn't do, though certainly Christians themselves have created plenty of confusion and disorder. However he will in punishing his enemies create confusion for them. That is the best interpretation I can give at this moment, without having read the interpretations of more learned individuals.

Just because he denies some parts of the old testament a lot more than I think most people realize tbh, he also endorses some parts of it and the parts he doesn't denounce should be kept how few they may be.

Also, at least it gave us Psalms and Proverbs.

Sorry, and Job. Can't forget that one.

Other than that, I would say that most of the old testament is beneficial from a theological perspective, but not really quite so mandatory as the NT. I'd still say one should read it though.

You do know that the early Christians read exclusively from the OT before the texts of the NT came to be accepted as scripture, right? The OT and NT are of equal importance.

b39f30 No.431449

>>431446

Like I said, you still should read it… I have.

b39f30 No.431457

To clarify, I was highlighting the main books that I see used most frequently. For example, I've seen several pocket bibles that shorten the OT down to just those 3, because of how frequently we reference them in prayer and song.

0d5ef2 No.431460

Is Proverbs really used a lot?

b39f30 No.431485

>>431460

From my experience, more so outside of Church. It's short bursts, and anecdotes rather than a lengthy story or legalistic code, so it grabs people easier. Also, the poetic nature of it leaves it open to broader interpretations than other parts of the OT.

ff6017 No.431546

God didn't mind control ppl to write the bible or force them to write dictations. He was their "muse" a source of inspiration/motivation. Certain semantic Defects are not surprising.

>But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Romans 2:29

Circumcision of the heart is straight out of the OT as well.

>And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Deuteronomy 30:6

>And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Matthew 5:29

It would seem to me that these commandments of self-mutilation in preference to committing sin are meant to be metaphorical and literal, sacrificing the flesh that the spirit might wax. However, I have no doubt that the Israelites of ancient times would have been smote by God if they had not followed the commandment of circumcision. Ultimately, we won't know why God does what He does until we're dead and possibly blessed enough to attain salvation and the opportunity to have questions answered.

>For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counseller?

Romans 11:34
