The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/shortcuts/2018/nov/14/are-we-really-in-the-middle-of-a-global-sex-recession

It seems kids nowadays are having less sex, less drugs, less alcohol and less degenerate acts than baby boomers.

This is a global trend.

What is the opinion of anons here about this?

It's not precisely good.

It's a Japan-lite-style trend of people being too busy with work, in-door entertainment and stuff to screw or party like fratboys/girls.

But after the burnout of the degeneracy of the 60's-70's-80's, yes, there is also some natural conservative swing, born out of people realizing it's not all that cracked out to be, and that sex, drugs and rock&roll aren't quite so shocking and taboo-breaking nowadays.

Entertainment has become too strong. It's too easy to be completely entertained at any time. It has come to the point where many people would rather stay home and surf the web than socialize. The internet provides instant, cheap entertainment, virtual socialization (which despite not being real connections, fulfills the human need for social connections adequately) with none of the emotional risk associated with actually connecting with another person.

The truth is that sex is outdated. Sure, it might be useful for procreation but as a form of recreation there are much better options out there. Think of all the work you have to go through just to have one orgasm that won't even last for very long. Now compare that to the hours of fun you can have in Star Wars Battlefront II for the low price of $9.99 and when you've exhausted all of the content that game has to offer you can just install one of the countless mods for free. Pound for pound, sex just isn't worth all the trouble.

That article is trash and the format is terrible, but I'd expect nothing less from The Guardian.

That's the main reason, I'm sure. Many young people want it, but are either too socially awkward or too comfortable in their own little bubble to put in the "effort" of getting it. Those of us who are voluntarily celibate are few in number and practically unheard of by normies… even my Christian Baby Boomer parents don't believe me when I say I'm not sleeping around.

>less sex

no, less people are having more sex

>less drugs

good, but why is this?

>less alcohol

good, but it's probably that they can't afford it, not that they don't want it

>less degenerate acts

debatable and what you consider as such. i would consider pornography, and cohabitation and sex before marriage, as degenerate, but acceptance of these are at record highs

I think is because of behavioural sinks on modern civilization.

It's the most logical explanation, since the mouse utopia shows the same effects on humans.

Their celibacy is not out of philanthropy, but of misanthropy. Nothing's changed, promiscuity is just a symptom.

It's easy to not act on corrupted goods when there is next to no good left to corrupt, going by the Augustinian theory of evil. Since we are not exactly in a global revival or major reformation right now, we need to ask what these people are replacing those forms of degeneracy with, since they are clearly not replacing them with Christ.

Also, less sex in general means less legit, marital sex as well, which is itself an evil since God wants babies, lots of babies and couples who are unified constantly.

>SW:BFII is better than sex

You, I like you. What's your favorite mod map?

Yet atheism is still rising, birthrates are still flatlining and politics is ever more mammonised.

Let go of worldly hopes, anon. Nothing's getting better any time soon.

I'm not sure. Probably one of the ones from SW:BF1.

I'm afraid young people are having less sex because porn is so easily available in these days. Getting your sexual release from pornography is a lot easier than having to leave your house, socialize and compete with a load of other thirsty males for a sexual partner.

50e002  No.788136

Just read the article.

>Since the 90s, in the US, the proportion of men who masturbated in a given week has doubled to 54% and women to 26%.

I wonder how those numbers go if you divide them by age bracket.

>There is little evidence that it [pornography] is addictive

I wonder (((who))) may be behind this claim.

Polite sage for double posting

On the contrary, I hear that it's tapering off from its heights about a decade ago.

This. Huxley got it correct. However, a lot of young people are already taking or wish to take what some would call a Benedict option and getting out of urban centre and start a simple life if they can.
