Some more findings and an updated and revised chart.
1. People who were referred by friends almost never stay if the friend doesn't. In fact, not a single person who is friends in real life with somebody who brought them onto the server who then quit is still here. The only person who has had friends quit and is still active is GrimshadowUK, but he brought them on himself.
2. Statistically, the least permanent group of people are people who were referred to the server by real life friends. The only real life friends still active (included in the analysis) are Aduda12 & Sheylos, and Rick and his buddies. I suspect this is because groups of friends tend to be more transient and will follow the lead of any one individual who quits, as opposed to the general populace which quits in a different pattern.
3. Spainland isn't actually as inactive as people think it is. In fact, it's more active than all of the /pol/ towns except for Volkstadt and Wulfkhain.
4. On average, 29% of a wave of new players will quit after the first day, logging in only once or twice, accomplishing absolutely nothing. A further 21% will never get on mumble and will quit pretty quickly. Another 25% will quit even WITH mumble. These numbers are skewed by the disastrous April 9th shill wave, which saw a 100% player loss. Excluding the failure of April 9th, these numbers are 28%, 23%, and 13% respectively.
4. Between the two shill waves we've gone through that are large enough to work with the data, we've lost approximately 73% of players to banning, pearling, defection to another nation, exile, and quitting. We managed to achieve a 39% mumble activity rate.
5. Between these waves, the player loss dropped 19% and mumble usage increased by 268%. This is an enormous success and had we achieved such success with the first wave, we would have kept 9 active players, as well as had 12 more people on the mumble. Needless to say, we need to keep this up.
